On March 14th, I had the honor to emcee the 2nd annual Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Supplier Excellence Awards where 76 supplier partners were honored for their outstanding contributions in 2023. Some of the companies highlighted included women-, minority- and veteran-owned small businesses as well as those operating in underdeveloped areas; all of whom Northrop is proud to partner with for shared mission success. “Strong supplier relationships and a shared commitment to performance, quality, and technology leadership are critical to our customers’ mission success,” said Matt Bromberg, corporate vice president, global operations, Northrop Grumman. “Our suppliers’ dedication to delivering with speed and affordability underscores our partnership and focus on excellence for our customers.” Awards for 2023 achievement were presented in four categories; Supplier Performance Excellence, Supplier Quality Excellence, Supplier Strategic Excellence and a new category-Supplier Resilience Excellence. Congratulations to all the award honorees. I want to give a special thank you to the team that coordinated this amazing event. It was a privilege to lead this project; we continue to raise the bar each year, which makes me excited to see what will occur in 2025!

Meet Sean Butt 👔 Sean is a Senior Associate at Raw Selection, a Diligent Executive Search Firm! Sean says " I think one of the fascinating aspects of the Private Equity industry is that you work with so many talented individuals who go into an organization and change it for the better. But more than that, there are always acquisitions happening, and that changes the landscape of various adjacent industries, whether it's aerospace defense, manufacturing, or for example the HVAC sector. This enables any aspect of the industry worldwide." What does it mean to have an arsenal of democracy today? How do we incentivize industry to invest in capabilities that contribute to national defense? How do we incentivize the acquisition workforce and military leaders to manage (not avoid) risks while innovating at speed and scale? This framework guided the conversation of our panel of Service Acquisition Flag Officers, chaired by Michael Williamson, President of Lockheed Martin. Panelists were Alice T., Frank Lozano, Chris Manning, David Walsh, and Cherissa T. Lots of consensus that we need to get the incentives right, and people need to understand the "why" behind requests to go faster or operate differently. From this year's 21st Annual Acquisition Research Symposium, co-hosted with Naval Warfare Studies Institute at Naval Postgraduate School and Department of Defense Management at Naval Postgraduate School.
