Echo Health Ventures is proud to be on Global Corporate Venturing ‘s Powerlist again this year. For many reasons: so many talented people, programs and portfolios are represented here. Most important to me though is that the list clearly points to the progress Corporate Venture has made in the past decade. The programs and teams represented are amazing - each of these programs is doing something to push the business and operating models of #CVC (and #VC generally) forward. We can experiment and innovate in corporate venture in ways that traditional venture funds can not… It is an advantage (and a responsibility) the #GCVPowerlist programs do not waste. In #healthcare technology and services especially, pushing the venture model is essential. We need more from our industry’s innovation economy… and to drive real and measurable impact from bringing together innovators and incumbents. Echo believes that CVC models have matured and attracted the talent necessary to play even more important roles in our industry’s next chapters. The Echo team is excited to do our part… and we truly appreciate James Mawson and his team for highlighting the work going on all across Corporate Venture and enabling us to learn from each other.

I have been involved with the AWCI in different capacities since 2013. Why are you involved? And why do you volunteer? I want to help make AWCI a more valued resource for its members. What is the value of membership for you, the company, your employees? AWCI is a terrific resource for education and organizational support. MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: This month's Member Spotlight is on Ellen Parsons! We had an opportunity to interview Ellen about her time with FWIT. Ellen is pictured here at the naming of the Frost Bank Center. Q: What have been your biggest benefits gained from membership in FWIT?  A: The biggest benefit I have gained through FWIT is leadership skills and public speaking. I have served at the local and association levels and it has helped me with my confidence in speaking with clients and in a group. Q: What has surprised you the most about FWIT?  A: I was surprised most by the way the ladies all rally around each other and want to see each other succeed. I have never seen any jealousy or even competition with the group as far as between different financial institutions. It is such a pleasant atmosphere. Q: What’s your best advice for getting the most out of FWIT membership?  A: The best way to get the most out of your FWIT membership is first of all to participate in group meetings and outreaches, volunteer to serve on the board, attend the summer leadership forum which is free to members, and attend the annual conference. Once you attend the conference you are usually hooked. It is so encouraging and refreshing.
