Wrapping up an extraordinary week with FIVE GUYS Fridays! (Thanks Matt J. 😂) 🍔🚀 It’s been a whirlwind, full of energy and results. My week as a Business Development Director has been all about driving revenue and forging key partnerships. I’ve had the privilege of working with a football club setting up impactful commercial relationships. We’re also prepping for major 2024 campaigns with two leading sports teams, a prominent Welsh food manufacturer, a renowned chocolate brand, a national contracting company, and a well-respected car dealership in Wales and the South West. We’ve extended our strategy to some of Wales’ most iconic venues and hotels, ready to make a significant impact. There’s also an exciting opportunity brewing with a New York-based company on the verge of substantial growth and brand development. The week’s highlight? Bringing on board 12 new clients is a clear sign of the groundbreaking growth our agency is achieving. During my time at Clorox, I had the chance to sit down with CCO Troy Datcher, who was the leader of the sales function and brought forward the company’s approach to sports marketing. Sad to hear of his recent passing. He seemed to love giving back, so I wanted to pass along three pieces of advice he shared with me to ensure a long career: 1) Get in the driver seat of your career — don’t stick in the passenger side. That means don’t limit yourself to a job description and find an area where the company could use support and take initiative. If you can show leadership across functions, people will notice. You’ll build a strong reputation outside of your direct colleagues, which is important for advancement. 2) Surround yourself with diversity — if you’re only around friends and like-minded people, you’ll be limited. But find people with different abilities and experiences, and you’ll end up with a great result. 3) Listen first, pitch last. Take notice of the other person or brand’s challenges and think strategically of what could solve those problems.

As I usually do I like to share personal stories and how those experiences have impacted me throughout my career. I believe Presence and Engagement within the given industry we are connected to provides great power and influence to how we develop our skills and gain knowledge and just as important (maybe more importantly) - how we contribute of our expertise, insights and perspectives and from those we gain value which is leveraged to benefit our own business, and relationships. The barrier to engagement...most often it's time, second is a monetary consideration. But when one considers engagement as an investment in themselves and their business suddenly perspectives are reconsidered on what they will gain from those experiences. But it takes commitment and effort...there is no magic trick to share. Here’s why: 1) Having a few different perspectives on a tour helps identify from a few sets of eyes where we can help solve challenges with our customer 👀👀 2) It shows the customer we are investing our time and effort on fully understanding their challenges 💪🏼 3) We make this a learning experience for both of us to grow in our profession 🤯 Important to note: Always make the customer aware of who you are bringing and why so they are not overwhelmed! It shows you are cautious of protecting their time and are showing full transparency. Happy Thursday from another day at the office working for Crown Packaging Corp. 👷🏼♀️👷🏻
