Start by identifying the habits, whether they are behaviors or ways of thinking, that have gotten in your way in the past.

Over the years I've figured out that I'm pretty good at lying to myself. Okay, maybe more accurate to say that I'm very adept at creating feel-good narratives about why I make certain decisions that result in certain actions and outcomes. One of the unique things about having a week between gigs is that I can look at myself as a professional apart from actually having a specific job. While self-reflection isn't bad, real growth for me happens when someone *else* is involved and can actively spot the assumptions disguising themselves as "truths" in my career narrative. I'm lucky enough to have crossed-paths with Jordan Hirsch at FishTree and it's been awesomely eye-opening. The impact of having someone trained to be a truly objective ally (not a boss, not a co-worker, not a friend, not a partner) for me and my career has me on a whole new level. Not just big picture thinking, but also real concrete daily things I can do to feel balanced and fulfilled. Highly recommend checking him out if you're wanting to re-calibrate in the new year. 🎆

Sometimes we get overwhelmed by career or critics and forget what life’s really about. Here’s a quick exercise to us remember. Finish this sentence: Life is about ________________ “Life is about watching a sunrise over the ocean.” “Life is about Sunday dinner with family” “Life is about ______________.” Finish the sentence twenty+ times. On paper. When you're done, circle the three you feel are most important. Write each on a card. Say them out loud. Take a photo and place them in their own album in your phone. When you feel anxious or stressed, open the albumn and remind yourself of what’s most important. When you get consumed with a project and feel it’s all that matters, open the albumn and remind yourself of what’s most important. P.S.
