Carers Week 2024 – Putting Carers On the Map Carers Week is a national campaign that aims to raise awareness of unpaid Carers and the vital role they play in society. Our Carers Hub in Gloucestershire are raising awareness this week and are visiting various locations in the county to offer information and support. 1 in 7 workers in the UK are unpaid Carers, thinking of your workforce how many people may have caring responsibilities for a family member or friend? Would you like to find out more about how you could support them at work? Do you know how many people in your workforce have caring responsibilities? Our Gloucestershire Carers Hub offers support to employers to become more Carer-friendly, leading to benefits for both employers and staff. Its a busy week for the DEI calendar as this week is also Carers Week, a time to celebrate and appreciate the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to caring for others. The Heart of Care: Carers are the unsung heroes of our communities. Their selfless dedication, compassion, and hard work often go unnoticed, but they are the heart of care. Acknowledging Challenges: Being a carer can be rewarding, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. It’s important to acknowledge these challenges and provide support where needed. Role of Businesses: Businesses can play a significant role in supporting carers. By offering flexible working arrangements, providing resources, and fostering a supportive work environment, we can help carers balance their responsibilities. 🌟 Team building at ECES! 🌟 At ECES, fostering teamwork among our team members is key to achieving corporate and personal goals. A working environment built on mutual trust and friendship among its members helps to focus on the goal and be united in achieving it. This is why we organised a table football tournament and a football match to promote team building and the opportunity to get to know each other outside the office, thus forging relationships beyond good cooperation in terms of work. Such an inspiring Fostering and Kinship Service conference this week. The focus was on therapeutic parenting with PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy), which is a particularly effective way of supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma. But we can all learn so much from applying PACEfulness in our daily interactions. It's Carers Week next week and at ECC we'll be hosting a range of sessions for employees to find out more about the support on offer to them. Our aim is to help people recognise, if they don’t already, that they are a carer. We'll have sessions on: Understanding the world of financial assessments The carers passport Carers Assessment, understanding how caring affects your day-to-day life and work out what support you may need.
