We are one of 68 FTSE 350 companies that have already met, or exceeded the target for Women in Leadership, and have done so two years ahead of the target date of 2025. This past month, Leaders Connect Detroit hosted a panel titled "How Women Lead," featuring Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy, President of Wayne State University; Denise Brooks-Williams, Senior Vice President and CEO of Care Delivery at Henry Ford Health Systems; and Kristi Stepp, Partner at Sigred Solutions, who also served as the moderator for the event. Today, I would like to highlight some of the key takeaways from the event. 1. Build a personal board of directors by gathering individuals who embody your aspirations or offer valuable insights and input. 2. In a leadership role it's essential to delegate success to others on your team. When I highlight how remarkable our division is, emphasize the outcomes achieved by the team's efforts, not by myself. 3. Leadership is not confined to a title; communicate that regardless of someone’s position, they have the capacity to lead and exert influence. 4. The success of an organization depends on the contributions of everyone in their respective roles. 5. Avoid taking things personally; more often than not, reactions are more about the other person than they are about you. 6. Throughout your career, seek out mentors and strive to keep those relationships strong. 7. Value family and be sure to keep those relationships strong. 8. Take good care of yourself. 9. Recognize that success takes time: each step of succeeding in a leadership role leads to the next step. 10. Develop your key skill set, especially presentation skills. At LeadWomen, 2023 was a year of 𝓇𝑒𝓈𝑒𝓉, 𝑔𝓇𝑜𝓌𝓉𝒽 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒶𝒸𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃. (Watch the video below to see our favourite moments!) The team started the year exploring what LeadWomen means to us, to our community and most importantly, what our #purpose was in driving thought leadership on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as women on boards and in leadership. This year we embarked on new journeys: ♀️♂️ Going beyond with our International Women’s Day celebration From March till October this year, we extended our conversation to include #WomeninPeace #WomeninMarketing #WomeninFilm #WomeninSTEAM #WomeninSports #WomeninHealth and of course, to #InternationalMensDay 🟰Turning intention to action:  The launch of our #EqualityatWork Corporate Community where a selected group of companies who are serious about DEI at work came together to discuss what can be done within their organisations. At the same time, the launch of our #InclusivePlaybook programme provides organisations with the tools needed to build an inclusive strategy that leaves no one behind, while having some fun with the learning! 👭Sustaining the women leadership pipeline:  Our first #EmergingWomenLeaders cohort graduated this year with positive reviews, showing that there is a need and urgency to develop a new generation of women leaders that are ready to lead inclusively, sustainably and with their strengths! Aside from this, our #community in the board space has only grown from strength to strength, having featured new members to share their expertise through our power hours and also bringing back our in-person Meet and Greets! Together with our amazing partners, clients and community members, we have accomplished so much in the last 12 months and yet, there is still more to achieve.
