Fortes Education has started an Elite Sports Academy at our schools to give every child the opportunity to participate in sports and join teams and squads no matter what their ability. Through competitive sports young boys and girls build self esteem and learn so many life skills - resilience, teamwork, leadership, empathy, and social skills. This was a game-changer for me, and this is a reminder to all other coaches and physios, that sports performance in skills Sports is new, and human movement science is new, rehab and performance are not weightlifting or bodybuilding, there are thousands of factors behind the success of good programs. India needs to believe in performing the skill in sports, rather than looking muscular, I believe this is the way for us to get Olympic medals and a podium finish in all skill-based sports. During my daily commute to college on the local train 🚆, I delved into bite-sized anatomy videos to brush up on my knowledge, a fascinating tidbit caught my attention—a revelation from an anatomist stating that the Palmaris Longus(PL), a muscle whose tendon can be seen on the palmar side of the forearm, is absent unilaterally in most individuals and bilaterally in a few‼️‼️ As curiosity 🧠 piqued, I decided to put this claim to the test. 🕵️♂️ Initiating with my right hand✋🏻 , the results were positive 💥. However, uncertainty loomed over my left hand. 😕 Turning to google and PubMed searches🔎, I unearthed more tests, and there I was, flexing my wrist in the local train, prompting curious glances from fellow passengers who probably wondered if I'd lost my mind. A fellow commuter boldly inquired about my peculiar activity, leading to a brief explanation. To my surprise, he decided to join my impromptu survey and test his own PL! 🤔 Intrigued, more people joined in, creating an unexpected camaraderie in the train!! To the anatomist who ignited this research quest in my mind, it turns out that none of us, constituting an average sampling size of 20 adult mumbaikar males, had an absent PL🤷♂️.
