179. Keeping Successful Whilst Your Job Is Transforming - https://buff.ly/3VYnHws Welcome to the first episode in our 4-part focus on 'Future Readiness, Today'. As the waves of change due to automation, digitisation, hybrid working and AI continue to wash through the world of work, we take a practical and proactive look at what we can do today to set up well for the future. Back in 2018 McKinsey's Global Trends report predicted 14% of the world's workforce may need to switch occupational categories. Maybe you are a customer service expert who now needs to generate opportunities as part of your role. Or a finance person who is now expected to collaborate and be more of a business partner. Many of the classic 'vertical' professions are now required to work in much more holistic and creative ways as organisations reshape and transform. Its still you, but with small adaptations week by week to enable your evolution over time. We share practical tips for getting a GRIP on your mindset so you can maintain calm and empowered in all the noise. We focus on the power of networking to keep your radar on about what might be ahead that you could prepare for. And for those looking to influence their employer to invest in qualifications we share stats that demonstrate this is cheaper long term than having to hire in new people. We cannot control the waves of change but we can grab a surfboard and make best use of our skills and attributes. Curious for more? Check out our relevant episodes: Ep 165. Effectiveness Over Efficiency: Get More Done by Doing Less We've all been there: to-do lists a mile long, feeling constantly busy but accomplishing little. Tim Ferriss, author and productivity expert, challenges this approach. He argues that effectiveness matters more than efficiency. Here's the key: Focus on high-leverage tasks that move the needle, even if they seem messy or unconventional. What are high-leverage tasks? These are activities that generate significant results with minimal time investment. For example, writing a great blog post could bring in new clients for weeks, while responding to every email might not impact your business goals as much. How can you identify high-leverage tasks? Ask yourself: What activities have the biggest impact on my goals? Analyze your data: Track your time and see what activities lead to the best results. Seek inspiration: Read Tim Ferriss' books or listen to his podcast for insights. Remember: Don't get caught up in the "hustle" culture. Prioritize effectiveness, not constant busyness. By focusing on high-impact tasks, you can achieve more with less effort. What are your high-leverage tasks? Share in the comments! #productivity #effectiveness #timferriss

EMBA | PwC Malta | Business Development | Sales and Marketing | Brand Ambassador | DEI Advocate | Salesforce Trailblazer | Change is the only constant in life
In this (amazing!) 25 min podcast, Aneesh Raman, VP and Head of The Opportunity Project at LinkedIn, and Peter Brown MBE, Global Workforce Leader at PwC, discuss about #talent management and #upskilling with Ayesha Hazarika, a broadcaster and writer in London, and Lizzie O’Leary, a journalist in New York. "I would encourage everyone not to see skills as the change that they have to react to, but skills as the tool with which they can react to all these changes that are playing out right now." " we actually estimate that by looking at the people you have within your organization, breaking down the skills they have, and you release that into the workforce, there’s probably the equivalent of a hundred million workers’ worth of effort that you’re able to release, which is huge." "embrace every and any opportunity to develop new skills, not just sort of classical technology, technical kind of skills, but actually people skills, human skills. Consistently, CEOs tell us that the skills that are in most demand are those innately human skills: problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, networking, leadership. They’re really hard to train, and they’re really hard to find." This is What Happens When You Prioritize Performance Over Learning: Insights from Adam Grant! A result-oriented approach in the workplace can generate positive results. But a hyper-intensive approach to performance metrics may not always end up in employees’ growth and learning. Adam Grant, Organizational Psychologist at Wharton, #1 NYT bestselling author of Think Again, and host of the TED podcast WorkLife, talks about balancing the act of performance vs. learning. Grant's wisdom underscores a pivotal insight: it's vital to encourage a culture that values the process of learning, not just the end result. By doing so, organizations can cultivate environments where continuous improvement and exploration are celebrated, ensuring enduring excellence in the long term. How do you ensure long-term growth in the workplace? Share your thoughts below! #WilbertoTorres #Staffing #Hiring

When self-management and hierarchy smash into each other, there can be a steep, sometimes uncomfortable learning curve. And certainly, as pointed out by Lisa Gill and many others: Self-management and that way of working are just not for everyone. Okay we heard that before...lets look into some research and actual data with Michael Y. Lee from INSEAD, who says that he is not seeing "the mainstream" organisations adopt such models. ...and if you didn't come across Aaron Dignan and his "Brave New Work", it's about time 😉 #newwork #futureofwork #networkofteams #teal #selforganisation #selfmanagement #agility https://lnkd.in/e2HiMxud
