Sport has so much to give ! Each of our meetings is always a good opportunity to do sport together and play the game. On the pitch, we are all team players. Consciously or unconsciously, we take off our « working armor » and we enjoy each other differently. These moments are so important. #LeadershipMonday I watched the Decathlon event at the just concluded 2024 Paris Olympics where sports men and women have to participate in ten different disciplines and whoever accumulates most points earns their place on the conquerors podium. It is a physically draining and energy surping activity due to the numerous disciplines that one has to participate in ranging from running, long jump, high jump, javelin, shotput, discus throw,pole vault, you name it. I noted keenly that the athletes who participate in this event are pretty average in each of these diverse disciplines compared to those who specialize in one. They are the perfect embodiment of "Jack of all trades and master of none" After many hours of pain, fatigue and putting their bodies under subjection the winner emerges. Compare this to a 100Metres athlete who cumulatively does not spend more than 35 seconds on the track and that is taking into account the qualifying heats, semi-finals and the finals. Moral of the story: while it is good to be all rounded but MASTER a skill. It will make your growth journey easier than being a Jack of all trades yet a master of none.

Decathlon's Rebrand: Making Sport Wonder-FULL for All Is Decathlon Turning Pro? Going back to my brand management class, where we discussed rebranding. Before that one session, we viewed rebranding as merely a logo change. However, we learned that rebranding is a strategic message companies send to stakeholders. Decathlon has traditionally catered to recreational and amateur athletes. However, their recent rebranding signals a shift towards becoming a one-stop shop for all sports enthusiasts, regardless of skill level. I'm excited to see how this "new Decathlon" unfolds!
