In essence, it's when brands exploit the rainbow symbol for profit and marketing purposes while failing to uphold the values of diversity, inclusion, and equality. For instance, a clothing company slaps a rainbow flag on its products during Pride Month but lacks policies supporting LGBTQ+ employees and remains silent on critical issues affecting the community. This is #rainbowwashing in action, and it's essential to recognize and challenge such actions. As a company that values employee wellness, genuine support goes way beyond symbolism. Having to hide who you are can be extremely exhausting. That is why #TeamBSH fosters a culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion. By doing this, we create a safe work environment, where every individual can be their true selves and thrive. During our Diversity Days, Víctor Lorenzo and FRANCK OLIVES, core members of our LGBTQ+ employee network "Colors of BSH", hosted the session "Being Me at Work." Their goal was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community and cultivate allyship and openness among colleagues. 🌈 They shared actions that individuals can take to embrace their authentic selves at the workplace, such as coming out to trusted colleagues or mentioning their partner when discussing their leisure. Allies are crucial in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, standing in solidarity with them. Being an ally is an ongoing process of learning, challenging biases, and taking action.
