When ethan austin and I were building GiveForward, the feedback loop was really hard in the beginning. We didn’t have investors, we barely had customers or traffic to the site. And at our 5% margins, we knew that revenue was going to be a challenging motivator to push through the tough times. So instead of revenue, we counted thank you messages from users on the site, donors, and recipients. These messages went up on the wall and they got us through those first difficult years. As founders and builders, we have to look for ways to measure wins in the early days…and not all of them need to be in our investor updates. As I embark on building a new venture, I’m using this jar to capture daily wins, for a physical reminder of my progress. Anyone else have tips for measuring early wins?
