The beta versions of the Horizontal Prompts and Clinical Delta features are now live. Horizontal Prompts introduces a novel thread architecture for generating AI clinical documentation. Unlike the standard vertical architecture used by popular apps such as ChatGPT and Claude, it utilizes both a hybrid vertical and now horizontal thread architecture. This architecture is superior for healthcare use cases because it avoids 'thread exhaustion.' In a vertical thread architecture, submitting a sixth prompt in ChatGPT or similar models significantly increases the risk of contaminated outputs or overall hallucinations. However, the new horizontal architecture offers the benefit of complete input isolation. This ensures that each documentation is generated from sterile inputs, uncontaminated by previous context in the thread. Optionally, clinicians can still benefit from the vertical architecture if they decide to use the entire thread as context. In summary, they can now choose between the horizontal or vertical prompt approaches as they wish, giving them complete control over how they segregate and manipulate inputs. We will continue to refine our approach based on ongoing conversations with our users and colleagues in the industry.

Software developers are testing AI-powered chatbots for medical advice and diagnosis, but concerns about accuracy persist. Google's "AI Overview" feature initially provided some incorrect and potentially dangerous health information, including advice about snake bites and nutrition. While Google has made efforts to improve the system, issues still remain, such as inaccurate information about infant feeding. Despite these challenges, many healthcare leaders remain optimistic about AI chatbots' potential in the industry. Dr. Nigam Shah from Stanford Healthcare compares the current situation to the early days of Google Search, suggesting that improvements will come with time. The World Health Organization has developed its own chatbot, Sarah, which uses information from trusted sources to provide more reliable health advice. As AI technology continues to advance, developers are working on improving the accuracy and reliability of these medical chatbots. https://lnkd.in/emjgQw7p #healthcare #healthcareai #healthcareit #ai #genai #generativeai #ChatGPT #llm #bigdata #ml #PatientEngagement #PatientCare #PatientOutcomes

You had better watch out for A.I.! It may not be ready for building science! I love the artificial intelligence tools! They can help with simplifying tasks, idea generation, client communication, and more. However, using A.I. for research, continuing education, design validation, etc. is a little sketchy still. Here is an example of a question I posed to ChatGPT to assist with a simple sealant joint sizing exercise and I got surprising results! See below for the interaction! How do you build a product using GenAI? Noé's talk on "RAG for a medical company" at PyData London has just been published on Youtube and gives a great example of how a team iterated from a sexy proof of concept to a product that can actually be used in production. RAG stands for "Retrieval-Augmented Generation", the standard technique to customise GenAI to specific needs and datasets. In this example, the product is for medical doctors wanting to check the detailed instructions of medications to double-check something before prescribing them. ChatGPT4 does a great job out of the box as a proof of concept, but is unusable in real-life: the stakes are too high to use a solution that could potentially hallucinate. Noé's talk explains how the team was able to combine its technical skills in RAG with a product approach to come up with a solution that can be used in real-life and save the doctor some precious minutes during their (very short) appointments. A great example of how tech experts focusing on value for the customer results in more ingenious solutions.
