Ovzon has received, through Viasat Government Services, its first order for Ovzon Pegasus service on the new Ovzon 3 satellite. This represents the transition from current Ovzon SATCOM-as-a-Service delivered to the U.S. Department of Defense (U.S. DOD) using leased satellite capacity to now utilizing Ovzon 3. The order is for twelve months and the service was activated on August 1, 2024. The order value amounts to approximately 6.2 MUSD. This order, specific to U.S. DOD requirements, replaces the previous eight-month contract that was signed in December 2023. The Ovzon 3 satellite was launched in January 2024. After the conclusion of successful in-orbit tests the satellite entered into commercial service on July 5, 2024. Ovzon offers world-leading integrated mobile satellite communications services, SATCOM-as-a-Service, to customers globally. The services combine high throughput satellite networks, mobile satellite terminals, gateway services, and dedicated customer support. Ovzon’s offerings meet the growing demand for mission critical connectivity for customers with high performance, mobility and resiliency requirements such as Defense, National security and Public safety. In January 2024, Ovzon’s proprietary developed geostationary satellite Ovzon 3 was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, FL. Lynk Signs Satellite-to-Cell Contract with US Dept of Defense. Lynk Global signed a contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency (#DISA) to provide commercial satellite-to-cell services to the U.S. Department of Defense (#DoD), the Department of Homeland Security (#DHS), and other U.S. government agencies. Lynk Global announced the contract on April 25.  Under the contract, the DoD, DHS, and other U.S. government agencies can commercially purchase satellite-to-cell services for the next five years, with possible extensions to the contract of five more years. The award is part of DISA’s Proliferated Low-Earth Orbit (#PLEO) Satellite-Based Services program, which announced a number of awards last year to establish commercial communications for military use. The full program value, including all vendors, is worth up to $900 million. Services available under the contract include SMS text messaging, emergency cell broadcast alerts, and LynkCast weather & information broadcast services. This contract has the potential to rise to $103 million and will fund the development of ground infrastructure. The contract, awarded by the Space Systems Command’s Commercial Space Office (COMSO) within the U.S. Space Force, is for ground infrastructure services in support of the Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services (EMSS) program. Additionally, there is a huge forecast by the DoD - $107 billion in fact- for commercial SATCOM buys in the coming years.
