🌟 Transforming Nonprofits: MacKenzie Scott’s Unforeseen Impact 🌟 In recent months, I’ve engaged with several nonprofits that report an extraordinary surge in their budgets—an unexpected anomaly in a year that defies convention. The common thread? #MacKenzieScott 's unanticipated philanthropic contributions. These contributions were so substantial that they eclipsed previous giving and are likely to shape future giving as well. An excellent analysis provided by #PanoramaGlobal 's “Analyzing MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving Open Call” provides some key insights. ⬆ Unexpectedly Generous Awards: While initial expectations pointed to 250 nonprofits being eligible for $1 million, a fortunate 279 organizations received a remarkable $2 million each. Scott’s generosity exceeded all projections, benefiting a diverse range of community-driven initiatives. ⚖ Focus on Equity & Democracy: Nearly three-quarters of the grantees demonstrated a clear commitment to Equity and Justice, with a strong emphasis on racial equity. Additionally, funding for democracy programs saw a notable increase compared to previous rounds. 🎁 Impactful Grants for Smaller Organizations: Scott’s gifts of $2 million have had an outsized impact on smaller nonprofits with budgets ranging from $1 million to $5 million. These organizations constitute only 5% of all nonprofits in the US, making a $1-$2 million gift truly transformational. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #Changemakers https://lnkd.in/efTzGa86

The #ECR is now the third largest group of the European Parliament. First question: can your organisation afford not to talk to ECR lawmakers? Lobbying might be the fifth power, but it is first and foremost a business. Lobbyists must deliver on the objectives of their employers, whether they are from the for-profit or nonprofit sector. You might not have the choice — given the political clout that the ECR now has — not to include them in their outreach strategy. 🤔 I raise this points and more in today's edition of The Beubble. https://lnkd.in/eehKbEsP

Highlights from our #2024PractitionersGathering. Discussion today focused on the importance of transparency and the shrinking public trust in government, media, and non-profits. The Practitioner Institute started with a presentation from Kevval Hanna of the Edelman Trust Institute on their Trust Barometer (https://lnkd.in/eC7hstpx). We were joined by Stacey Abrams and by Denis Moynihan co-founder of Democracy Now! Amy Domini a pioneer of #EthicalInvesting, reminded us: “knowledge leads to social change, and that’s the foundation on which this field needs to grow.” As a network of values aligned investors, it was a call to action to do more to build a vibrant civil society and healthy democracy.

Deadline for submission of contributions has been extended to 8 April due to technical reasons - proposal for a Directive on European cross-border associations This initiative aims to help #nonprofitassociations conduct #crossborder activities in the single market by removing legal and administrative barriers. This would help promote the role they play in generating economic and societal values in the EU and allow them to enjoy their single market freedoms. #crossborder #nonprofitassociations #NGOs

This quote was provided by an anonymous foundation as part of a survey we carried out last year in collaboration with Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association. Case studies are collected in our latest publication "Removing Obstacles to Cross-Border Philanthropy; The Time Is Now.” The real-world examples show how intricate and exhausting fiscal systems across Europe are when it comes to donations and fundraising, and urge the #Eu to remove these barriers. The time is now! https://t.ly/HPhti #philanthropy #donations #taxsystem #transnationalgiving
Philea together with Transnational Giving Europe has published a collection of real cases of existing obstacles to cross-border philanthropy. “Removing Obstacles to Cross-Border Philanthropy; The Time Is Now” provides real-world examples of impacted foundations and donors, and delves into the broader legal and fiscal contexts behind each barrier. The publication also includes concrete recommendations to policymakers on this issue. Download it now! https://bit.ly/3WSM7aP
