Perhaps we all heaved a collective sigh of relief when the European Union unveiled its new circular and exemplary textile strategy last year. Its main aim is to curb greenwashing, while enabling the production of fashion products that are European, local and regional, and affordable for consumers. Sustainability does not even need to be mentioned, as it is an integral part of every element of the process.
While learning about the strategic transformation of the textile industry, we thought of organising a meetup (or series of meetups) focused on designers and interested professionals, where we would first get to know the broad outlines of the strategy, and assess what we know about it all and what are the most important questions to be clarified. Our aim is not to go through this process separately, but to work together to make the transformation of the country more effective, to keep us all competitive and creative.
In the first part of the meeting, Dr. Lívia Kokasné Dr. Palicska, President of the Hungarian Association of the Light Industry, will give a presentation on the most important changes. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to get to know each other, to talk and to focus on an important topic in the form of a brainstorming workshop.
Key topics (headings and further elaboration together):
Transparency in the production chain, sustainability communication, textile recycling and waste management, domestic textile and fashion enterprises, circular strategy.
