I am officially retiring on July 1. I started working in 1975 part time in high school. Then 7 years in the US Army. Another 11 in Washington DC working for a Marsh & Mclennan subsidiary. Finally, 28 years, 11 months and 1 day for Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. That's almost 49 years of working, amazingly for only 5 employers in that entire time. I don't think that happens much anymore. I've had a great run, going from typewriters and punch cards to today's technology. I've worked with great people over the years, both those who were my leaders and those I led and worked with. I hope I had a positive impact on everyone I have known and worked with over the years. My retirement has come a little earlier than I anticipated, but for a multitude of reasons this is the right time. My initial focus is going to be on family. I'll figure out what I'll really be doing in retirement later. I wish everyone I've know over the years and especially those in the Business Continuity/Business Resilience community happiness and great success in the future. For now, I'm going to chill, relax and focus on what's important.
Dennis Connolly you for sure have made an impact on Wellmark and myself when I was a newbie in the business continuity world! You deserve to take sometime for yourself and your family. Enjoy that time. Congratulations on your retirement.
