🍄🚀 Big Wins in the World of mushrooms! 🚀🍄 As we stand amidst our container farms today, surrounded by walls of fruiting Lion’s Mane mushrooms, it’s hard not to reflect on the journey that brought us here. Achieving 3lb yields per block is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of, especially knowing the complexities and nuances of mushroom cultivation. The path to this point was anything but straightforward. It involved countless hours of research, experimentation, and, let’s be honest, moments of frustration. Mushroom cultivation is an art as much as it is a science, requiring a deep understanding of the biological needs of the mushrooms and the ability to precisely control their growing environment. Our success with these Lion’s Mane mushrooms wasn’t just about pushing for higher yields; it was about creating a sustainable, efficient system within our container farm that could support this level of production. The breakthrough came after numerous iterations and tweaks to our cultivation process, demonstrating the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, and innovation. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. What an amazing intersection of science and satisfaction! A story that began with feeding cattle our innovative red seaweed product, Seagraze™, followed by by a sensory panel with unrivaled ambiance at TuskPDX to assess SeaGraze™-fed beef! 🥩 It was so impressive seeing the team from Oregon State University's Food Innovation Center organize and conduct the panel with the Portland participants. We are so grateful for the opportunity to explore product implementation of SeaGraze™ with beef cattle at Carman Ranch. Carman Ranch already operates under a sustainable and regenerative mindset while raising some of the most delicious beef there is. "Our ranching practices restore the soil, respect the animals, and create business opportunities in our rural communities, all while growing delicious, nutrient-dense food" - Carman Ranch It is imperative to us that we create a feed additive that can be successfully integrated across various livestock management systems, and much of that comes from trial and error. The lessons learned and successes of this project has shaped much of my first year here at Symbrosia . Thank you Carman Ranch for being an integral part of our journey! Innovation will continue to be driven by participation, interest, and engagement from producers. A select few questions surrounding the incorporation of SeaGraze™ that can only be answered by collaboration with those who growing and supplying our food: 🐄 How do we translate results seen at the university level with red seaweed to actual on-farm scenarios with SeaGraze™? 🐄 What are the methods we can implement SeaGraze™ into your system? 🐄 How can we ensure the animals consume the SeaGraze™? 🐄 What inclusion level of SeaGraze™ will help reach your production goals? Last week, we were thrilled to host Neutral and Carman Ranch at TuskPDX for our first-ever Low Methane Sensory Beef Tasting. Over 100 guests joined us in Portland, Oregon, where we sampled our Asparagopsis-fed beef from the renowned Carman Ranch 🍽️ 🌱 The evening was a celebration of sustainability and culinary innovation, where we explored whether sustainability compromises quality and taste. To do this, Symbrosia partnered with Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center (FIC), which specializes in consumer and sensory testing 🍷 🥩 Over locally sourced dishes, Symbrosia CEO Alexia Akbay, Neutral CEO Marcus Lovell Smith, and Neutral Scientific Advisory Board Member Ann Radil shared insightful speeches emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the journey to a greener food system – highlighting the over 70% enteric methane reduction we saw across the group offered Seagraze™ at Carman Ranch. We believe that a greener food system is a team effort, from producers to consumers.
