This blog highlights some great recommendations for how local governments, law enforcement, and communities can prepare for the possibility of mass shootings. I wish this kind if thing wasn't important, but it is. 🙏 -- "On January 18, 2024, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) released the highly anticipated report of its critical incident review of the May 24, 2022, mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The shooting claimed the lives of 19 fourth grade students and two of their teachers, physically injured 17 students and educators, and left countless others in the school and throughout the community dealing with unimaginable shock and trauma. The response to the shooting by authorities, primarily by law enforcement, was described by some as a “catastrophic failure,” prompting Uvalde’s mayor to request an independent review be conducted by the DOJ. While the report delves into this failure in painstaking detail, it also contains hundreds of observations and recommendations that can help communities, including schools and first responder agencies, avoid these same failures if faced with a similar situation. This blog summarizes 10 key takeaways focused on those recommendations." https://lnkd.in/eMhEeu7Z

Community-centered public safety leader with significant experience in patrol operations, investigations, and crime prevention.
An interesting study in attack dynamics. A well-planned, and executed ambush.
Heavily armed robbery crews continue to terrorize our city. While situational awareness is crucial, it's not sustainable for law-abiding citizens to live in a constant state of alertness. As taxpayers, we deserve to feel safe in the communities we invest in. Unfortunately, the mayor’s community safety plan does not address this current violent crime trend. His “people-based” and “place-based” safety plan is great in theory but does not address the city’s real-time epidemic of violent crime.

One of the worst outcomes of violent crime in our society is the loss of our freedoms - in this case, the freedom to be unaware. This video is an example of why you must stay alert and vigilant, even in areas that are familiar. Instead of believing “this will never happen to me,” take a few seconds each day to think “what would I do if…?” Train your mind to react so you don’t have to think when the unthinkable happens. Have a plan and be prepared.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN ANY CITY ! Please watch this and wake up. This could be you if we continue to treat violent crime with a soft touch. Elect leaders that will change this and give them the tools to win this war. I’m sorry to say, it is a war and must be waged on many fronts including poverty and mental health management. That being said, it does no one any good to be soft on crime, any crime, while we tackle other problems that lead to it. There is NOT one solution. It will take a long term sustained approach like we did in the 90s in NYC and other places that just said: enough is enough.#crimeprevention #crime #policetraining #lawenforcement #nycbusiness #politics #elections2024 #mentalhealthawareness #poverty #nyc #chicago

Safety must be a top priority for all places of worship in today's world. By creating a secure environment, we not only protect congregants, visitors, and the facility itself, but we also foster a welcoming and inclusive community. It's important to note that increasing firearms without training is not a safe practice. Instead, investing in security training for staff and volunteers, implementing surveillance systems, and collaborating with local law enforcement to develop emergency response plans are all well-thought-out good practices to maintain. #safetyfirst #churchsecurity #emergencymanagement #emergencypreparedness

5moI would like to know how to get Officer Hanrahan to answer my emails and give me some information about my case. In which I was injured and beaten in a racist attack. He has videos, photographs, all the evidence and at least one identified attacker. But I can't contact him.
