Ever walk into a room questioning your expertise? Even seasoned leaders get imposter syndrome. My wake-up call came during my first lecture as a Digital Marketing professor. I walked in the classroom trying to remind myself I was the most knowledgeable in the topic, but here's the leadership secret I unlocked: Great leaders don't stash knowledge, they unleash it. My best classes became vibrant exchanges, fueled by the collective expertise in the room. The takeaway? Your job as a speaker or a leader isn't to be the smartest person in the room, it's to be the facilitator. Found this article as I was perusing the HBR today. Great article for leaders as they mentor and train other leaders. I think too often we think we have to be right 100% of the time when presenting to others. ✴ Choose self-affirmation over self-doubt - do not let the imposter syndrome overtake you. Sure there will be people in your audience that have more years of experience, but that does not mean what you are presenting does not provide value. ✴ Be intellectually humble without undermining your credibility - if you give information that is inaccurate or incorrect, do not feel defeated but think of it as an opportunity to gain deeper knowledge. ✴ Acknowledge and invite SME expertise and experiences...without letting them take over - ask the expert to present on a specific topic such as a case study. #organizationalleadership #organizationaldevelopment #talentdevelopment #talentengagement #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipskills https://lnkd.in/gDJ7jpH2
