Hiii LinkedIn peeps! Long time no chat. It’s been six months since I had a major career change. Let’s talk about it. I moved to California in 2017 and shortly after got into the talent acquisition world. A world filled with fun but a lot of let downs and false hope it seemed. My favorite role was when I was working for Tik Tok . In that role I was able to actually work cross functionally with teams I had never even heard of . I met some amazing people from all over the world 🌎. It was bitter sweet when my contract ended but just like other contracts I’ve taken up . They would all come to an end at some point . While working in these contract TA roles we are often told that if you work hard , exceed expectations & contribute to process improvement you could find your way converting to a FTE. And almost always it never actually happened . I found myself burning out quickly & being consumed with anxiety for the unrealistic expectations (AWS ) was most popular for that part. After 4 lay offs b2b & anxiously accepting sub par jobs just for survival I had to make the decision to walk away from tech all together. I’m now a Medical Support Assistant with the VA & boy what a curve ball that was for me. I have no medical background so you could probably imagine how nervous I was interviewing . I found a way to verbialize my transferable skills & was offered the job! All of the training I have is on the job and in real time most days. I can happily say I no longer feel anxious and worried about waking up and losing my job. No unrealistic KPIs & zoom meetings all day. I clock in do my job. Clock out and LIVE MY LIFE. For me this has been a great change& I am so happy I believed in myself enough to make it happen. My new role doesn’t require networking so I have been off LinkedIn for a while but I hope you all are doing good! Yours truly , Des

That must have been a tough decision, but the best ones often are! I completed my medical schooling several years ago and now find myself in the world of data, recently graduating from a Business Analytics grad program. Each day brings something new, and there's always room for new dreams! Wishing you all the best 😊

Congrats… I’m curious to know how the process went as I would love an opportunity in the VA it seems very hard to get in.
