What exactly is a union? In the simplest terms, a union is a collective bargaining powerhouse. It’s like having a squad of legal and economic Avengers fighting for better wages, working conditions, and overall professional sanity. And let’s be honest, who couldn’t use a little more sanity these days? Why hasn’t this idea taken off among physicians? Duke Law Professor, Barak Richman JD PhD, enlightens us! When it comes to California's approach to legislation impacting small businesses and the private sector, there seems to be a notable discrepancy in priorities. The state's stance on minimum wages and labor costs differs significantly from its response to legislation affecting its own financial interests. #California #Legislation #SmallBusinesses #PrivateSector #minimumwage #healthcareminimumwage https://lnkd.in/gbxbFseZ

OK, the Labour manifesto. I've gone through the 'take back our streets' part. If you can grit your teeth through such clichés (and the promise of 'cutting bureaucracy' in the police, as if politicians are proposing to give carte blanche to cops to 'stop and search', without filling a form in?!) you can find interesting things for the private security sector. Such as proposed direct entry as a police detective. Note I'm not saying Labour ideas are good or new, necessarily, let alone that the money will be around to make much happen. A possibly interesting idea not spelt out is more standardised procurement in the police; is that Labour having another go at regionalising forces? To sum up, if you were to read the Labour and Tory manifestos with their names blanked out, you could tell which was which. In that sense, voters have a choice. https://lnkd.in/eSMNvvfs

There are less than ten days remining in the 2024 Georgia Legislative session. Keep advocating! House Bill 1125, aiming to end subminimum wages, has passed the House and now heads to the Senate Insurance and Labor Committee. This bill is a pivotal opportunity to ensure fair compensation for all Georgians, regardless of ability. Subminimum wage discriminates and devalues the contributions of individuals with I/DD. Ending this practice promotes inclusivity and fairness, empowering individuals to achieve financial independence and engage fully in their communities. Advocate for HB 1125 and an end to subminimum wages by using our Phone 2 Action tool at https://p2a.co/incinpo
