In my latest published chapter, I adopted a comparative approach to explore the capacity of law enforcement personnel to respond to GBV within the domestic sphere in West Africa. I found that while some West African countries such as Ghana have been at the fore formally training law enforcement enforcement personnel to respond to Domestic Violence, including GBV, most West African country still have a long way to go. I also found that cultural perception of DV is a bane to effective reporting, investigative and prosecution systems in West Africa. Here’s a call to ECOWAS Commission to task West African governments to move beyond enacting laws to equipping law enforcement agencies with the right skills to implement the law. Alternative dispute resolution could be used to improve access to justice in South Africa for socially and economically disadvantaged groups. Access to courts is a constitutional right, but access to justice is a concept which goes beyond the availability of the court process. It refers to different methods by which an individual may obtain legal assistance. Vlad Movshovich and Kanyiso Kezile share how to ensure equal access to justice in a changing legal landscape: https://bit.ly/3TSGKac #disputeresolution

Watch this video of Blinne Ní Ghralaigh KC to the International Court of Justice (ICJ); it is powerful and sobering.
Irish lawyer Blinne Ni Ghralaigh who is supporting South Africa's legal team at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), says the number of orphans caused by ‘Israel’s genocidal assault on the Palestinian population in Gaza’ has led to the need for a new acronym: WCNSF - wounded child, no surviving family Think about that for a moment, WCNSF - wounded child, no surviving family, then pause and think about it again, and again.
