What the final version of AI Act provides is two simple and indispensable requirements in terms of copyright and transparency: - Compliance of GenAI models with EU copyright rules when they operate in the EU, regardless of where they trained their models; - Minimum standards of transparency to give sufficiently detailed summary of their training data in a way to allow rightholders to exercise and enforce their rights. Next major step for the EU to lead on responsible AI regulation is on 2 February, when the Member States will formally vote on the politically agreed text.
