Today, let us try to find at least a moment to turn off all the noises around us and enjoy some “quiet time.” In the silence, let the mind wander, or if possible, let it rest completely. We rarely get these peaceful moments anymore. There’s noise everywhere, and it’s hard to escape it. Television and social media are often the biggest culprits, always there, always tempting. It’s so easy to turn on the TV or pick up our smart phones the moment we walk into a room, just to fill the space with noise and distraction. It makes me wonder, what are we afraid might happen in the silence? In the stillness? Have we forgotten how soothing it can be? This kind of solitude has many names: “meditation,” “deep relaxation,” “quiet time,” or simply “downtime.” I know some try to negatively call it “daydreaming,” and sometimes it gets a bad rap. But no matter what it’s called, it’s a break from all the external buzz buzz buzz and hum hum hum. It’s a chance for our inner chaos to settle and for us to reconnect with ourselves. To connect with our true decision maker. And have you ever noticed how those little quiet moments can make the rest of life feel extra special? Selfish or Smart? There was a time when I took a break to recharge before our family vacation. I kept it under wraps since I anticipated judgement from others. In the end, the benefits were undeniable. A retreat is all about rediscovering yourself — a sanctuary to calm your mind, withdraw from the senses, and engage in deep reflection, listening to the voice of your mind and body. It's an invaluable opportunity to revitalize, reset, and recover. By scheduling a moment of self-reflection before a busy period, you become much more open to the experience, learning to genuinely enjoy each moment together. Three things that I do to prepare my introverted self for a very extroverted week. 👇 🔋 I spend the weekend recharging my batteries. For me, this means unplugging from the internet, getting out of my mind and into my body, and being outside as much as possible. If I know the week ahead is going to be draining, then I avoid too much socialising and instead focus entirely on restorative activities that help me feel my best. ✍ I plan... everything. My brain is going to be slammed this week, so wherever possible, I made sure to plan ahead to alleviate some of that workload. I spent a few hours on Sunday deciding what I'm wearing, what I'm eating, and when I need to leave the house (or office), and I saved all my travel info as screenshots on my phone so I can easily find them later. 🧘♀️ I schedule moments of calm. As someone who needs space, solitude and quiet to recharge, I always make sure to prioritise those needs during hectic periods. Even half an hour can make a huge difference, and it is not selfish to put your needs first. I'm incredibly lucky to have an amazing manager, Hannah Dempster, who knows what I need to be at my best and is there to fight my corner and make sure I'm taking the time I need to recharge. For many years, I tried to keep up appearances and adhere to how everyone else seemed to be coping with the rat race. I had high ambitions and felt I needed to burn the candle at both ends to achieve them. I beat myself up for leaving social situations early and did everything I could to hide the fact that I am, at heart, an introvert. So, to anyone reading this who feels the same way, let's start to redefine the narrative around success and acknowledge that it's our differences, like introversion, that make us invaluable in a crowded room. #introverts #Introvert #mondaymotivation (Did my bad GPS skills turn our 10-kilometer weekend wander into a 23-kilometer adventure? Now that spring has (finally) sprung, give or take a thunderstorm... 🤣 This time of year feels like the perfect time to reflect on ourselves and our lives. Ask yourself: what do I enjoy? what don't I enjoy? when was the last time I did something that makes me feel energised? when was the last time I went out into nature? How are you?  How are you feeling? This morning I was feeling super drawn to change my schedule of events, stop what I was in the middle of and to get down to the waters edge. I noticed one of my favourite online live calls by @JulieLewan was on so I stopped by for a mini reading. Which was, connect to the elements, get down to the beach and get your feet in the sand and water and let nature inspire you. So, I did. This reminded me of the power and importance of creating and tapping into all the small ways that you can to reset your inspiration and your coping and your grounding and your inner balance. We live an imbalanced lifestyle so it's no wonder we get off course and our wheels come out of the tracks and we feel overwhelmed and uncreative or uninspired. Today is a little reminder to allow yourself as many micro moments in your day as you can to unplug from the deep immersion you get your self into with all of your thoughts and tasks.  You can become so committed to pushing and stressing and hustling and having a commitment to pushing and stressing and hustling creates a state in your mind and body that becomes difficult to wrangle back into balance. Damn ego! Really try to and want to grab these micro moments of unplugging.  Understand the benefits of extracting your attention and your attunement out of its rabbit holes. Notice your deep enmeshment to your busy-ness and to the pressures and deadlines. Really extracting your self out of those moments as often as possible to remind your system that you do can do this and that you care about your own mental and emotional and physical wellness.  Because if you don’t have your wellness what do you have? Micro moments of listening to your inner wisdom which is sublty or sometimes demandingly trying to direct you toward what it most deeply needs to stay well and balanced and grounded and inspired and energised.   All the things we need to be well. Listen to the call of your inner-net asking you to give it some medicine of rest of play of unplugging of creativity of pure joy of connecting to any of the ways that mother nature provides bliss.
