💛 Why is Compassion Important for Primary Health Care? Embracing solidarity and social justice is at the core of the Primary Health Care (PHC) approach. Compassion serves as the vital glue that keeps these values at the forefront of our healthcare system, from local communities to national policies. By integrating compassion into PHC, we can foster the well-being of patients, families, communities, and the entire health system. 🌍💙 Check the project below to learn more about how compassion is an engine for PHC. #PrimaryHealthCare #SocialJustice

Just published: The 2024 Edition of the California's Health Safety Net Almanac! The health care safety net consists of the programs and providers that serve Californians with low incomes. Some key findings: 🔹 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are a key provider in the state’s safety net. The number of patients receiving care at FQHCs increased 31%, from 4.1 million in 2015 to 5.3 million in 2022. 🔹 Two-thirds of FQHC patients were covered by Medi-Cal in 2022. 🔹 Net patient revenues accounted for over two-thirds of total revenue for community clinics in 2021. Government support and other contributions accounted for the remainder. 🔹 Between 2017 and 2021, hospitals experienced a 15% decline in Medi-Cal outpatient visits; the largest decline occurred at city/county hospitals. In 2019, several health care regulators in BC came together to form a multi-college public engagement initiative – the BC Public Advisory Network (BC-PAN). Creating a joint mechanism to place the public at the center of health care reflects regulatory colleges’ mandate to serve and protect the public. The BC-PAN is a way that regulatory colleges can demonstrate accountability, promote transparency, and gather meaningful public feedback to help guide their work. Check out BC-PAN’s impact here: https://lnkd.in/dujYJz3u

Sarlahi: Where it all began Read the fascinating story by Amrendra Ray and Naresh Newar and find out how OHW's maternal and neonatal health program first started. ⛰️ "Access to healthcare providers was poor, with a marked lack of awareness among service recipients about how to access these providers. OHW mobilized the existing government infrastructure and networks to provide life-saving skills training to Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) and other health professionals" https://buff.ly/3vc8Fb8
