Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Typically, the volunteer journey at PMI begins while preparing for the PMP certification or some other PMI certifications. It’s there that you discover volunteering and how you can make a difference by supporting others while enhancing your project management skills. The next step is becoming a chapter leader, where you’re tasked with managing an organization – an incredible experience, especially if you’re not yet part of a board at your workplace! It’s a journey filled with challenges and learning that I highly recommend undertaking, as it impacts the lives of others whom you can put names and faces to, as well as your own life. Once you embark on this journey of serving others, there’s no turning back. PMI-Central Illinois Chapter

As the Grand Re-Opening of my synagogue, the ISAAC AGREE DOWNTOWN SYNAGOGUE, approaches, I want to share part of why we are so #successful in attracting young congregants and meeting #fundraising goals that might seem insane for a 3.5 person staff. 1. There are no dues, but we are building a strong culture of #RecurringGiving 2. Our High Holiday services don’t require tickets, are #free, and even RSVP in advance is functionally optional. (But please RSVP if you’re coming!) 3. Our staff is amazing, but the secret to our fundraising muscle is the fact that there are #funders who want Detroit to succeed and want the #JewishCommunity in this city to thrive. 4. Young people are moving to the city and having families here. Are there problems in #Detroit? Of course. But it’s a great city with a thriving Black middle class, great food, world-class arts, general convenience, nice amenities, and a much lower crime rate than you think. 5. Our rabbi, Ariana Silverman, leads with kindness, joy, a welcoming spirit, and an unshakable commitment to #SocialJustice. #nonprofit #SuccessStory

There are more than a few reasons why life here in Los Angeles is grand but one of them is the inspiration I get from the small but mighty non-profits that continue to make our city better. One is Public Matters, founded by Mike Blockstein and Reanne Estrada. If you want a break from the news cycle, have a look at this article titled "Conspiratorial Joy Lives Here."

Philanthropy and Arts & Culture institutions have the power to bring about significant change by addressing funding inequalities. By examining the dynamics of donor relations, museum exhibitions, and the struggles faced by theaters, we can begin to shift cultural hierarchies and create a more equitable society. One example of how philanthropy can make a difference is by supporting underfunded arts programs in BIPOC communities. By providing financial resources and opportunities for artists and performers in these areas, we can help level the playing field and ensure that everyone has access to the arts. Read our Op-Ed by Monica Fernandez to learn about the internal assessment of upending cultural hierarchies in Arts and culture: https://buff.ly/3qPAyDZ

It is a busy time of year for all #professionals (year-end!), but it is also a time of year where many people start thinking about #givingbacktothecommunity! There are so many Activate Good volunteer opportunities throughout the year, but Saturday, November 18 is #FamilyVolunteerDay and the perfect time to serve, learn, and reflect with the whole family. It's my favorite volunteer event of the year (the energy is positive and fun)...so I'm inviting my #linkedinnetwork to grab your family and friends, and join Ethan Gabriel and I for #FamilyVolunteerDay at Marbles Kids Museum to work together on a variety of hands-on project to make a difference in the community! Registration required. https://lnkd.in/gKi_jzXg
