Newark Approves Scaled Back Summit Tower Skyscraper By Chris Fry The skyline of the Brick City continues to evolve at a pace not seen in generations and the latest development slated for a prominent block of Downtown has been given the full green light. The approved tower is slated to rise at 200-206 Market Street, properties that are currently home to older structures that have sat vacant for at least two decades. Jersey Digs broke the news about the project last October after Newark’s Landmark & Historic Preservation Commission signed off on the application. The properties are located within the Four Corner Historic District, which is listed on both state and federal designations. The approvals from the historic commission last year came with a catch, as the board wished to slightly downsize the proposed 46-story development to be shorter than the National Newark building. 514 residential units are included in the approved plan, down a bit from the initially proposed 579. 20 percent of the units will be reserved for affordable housing, and the development will include 142 parking spaces in a garage for future residents. (Dallas Morning News) Go big or go home — that must be what developers in Oklahoma City are thinking. Last year, Matteson Capital disclosed plans for a downtown development that would include a 134-story skyscraper planned as the second tallest in the U.S. The building would be part of a larger development in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district. Now the developers are asking the city for zoning to go even bigger and let them build what they say would be the tallest skyscraper in the country at more than 1,900 feet high. That’s more than 100 feet higher than New York’s One Trade Center Tower, currently the tallest in the U.S. “Oklahoma City is experiencing a significant period of growth and transformation, making it well-positioned to support large-scale projects like the one envisioned for Bricktown,” Scot Matteson, CEO of Matteson Capital, said in a statement. “We believe that this development will be an iconic destination for the city, further driving the expansion and diversification of the growing economy, drawing in investment, new businesses, and jobs.” Developers of a downtown Oklahoma City mixed-use project are proposing a 1,907-foot tower. Called the Dream Tower, the proposed building would total about 5 million square feet. The skyscraper would house a hotel, condominiums, retail, restaurant space and a public observatory on top. The first phase of Edge Collective includes the Moxy Hotel and the renovation of a historic #office and #commercial building. Phase two will include 350 #residential units via a 20-story tower and a seven-story building. The project will also include 20,000 square feet of #retail space and 350 #parking spaces. Construction on the Moxy Hotel is expected to be completed in the next five to six weeks. The hotel team will then need six to eight weeks to officially open the hotel. Pair of Brooklyn Towers Top Out PMG's project is on track for completion in early 2025. Property Markets Group has topped off Society Brooklyn and Sackett Place, two adjacent residential towers in New York’s most populous borough. Situated at 267 Bond Street and 510 Sackett Street, respectively, the 21-story, mixed-use communities offer 517 apartments and 57,300 square feet of retail space. Society Brooklyn and Sackett Place have 34,000 and 23,300 square feet of commercial space available, respectively. The towers’ construction takes place as New York undergoes the largest city-led rezoning endeavor in its history. Urban Atelier Group is the project’s construction manager.
