Most of my professional practice is in leadership and life coaching, and this is reflected in my posts. However, amongst the many different types of organisations I work with, universities and institutes of higher education still figure. My interest is in helping them improve their governance and leadership performance: https://lnkd.in/ghtJaNiN Earlier today, I had the pleasure of catching up with Sara Booth and Ian Booth, the energetic founders of the Peer Review Portal. Since we last spoke - regrettably far too long ago (mea culpa) - they have taken the Portal in an inspired direction. It now acts not just as a multi-sided "market" for matching reviewers with academic review projects, but as a platform that securely stores and matches vital evidence used in registration and re-registration against higher education and VET standards globally. Like I say inspired! Given the dearth of talent in higher education quality assurance - have you tried finding a quality officer recently - this is a significant resource that any university or institute of higher education anywhere in the world should evaluate. #governance #highereducation #highereducationleadership

Many thanks to George Glover and the Student Garden for having me at their studio to discuss all things higher ed, technology, sustainability, and lots more. The next 12-18 months will be the most consequential for Australian international higher education, and while I don't have a crystal ball, I look forward to seeing how our leaders react to the challenges and opportunities brought about by new legislation. 📚 JUST RELEASED: Raquel M. Rall, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives, recently published an article along with Demetri L. Morgan. The article focused on the influence of governing boards in higher education. IN SHORT: ⭐️ Boards of trustees can do more to support and partner on efforts that lead to the cultivation of equitable student outcomes and opportunities. ⭐️ The unique role the board should play in advancing equitable student success must be viewed as part of its well-established responsibilities. ⭐️ Without the intentional work of the board, long-lasting, consistent, and comprehensive change cannot be achieved. ⭐️ University leadership is an asset for boards and without the support of these stakeholders, boards cannot maximize their role in higher education. Inspired by a Meeting with BCU's Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Mba, FREng PFHEA! I recently had the privilege of meeting with Professor David Mba, FREng PFHEA Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham City University His story of resilience and his commitment to promoting diversity in higher education are truly inspiring. Our conversation wasn't just motivating, it was an action plan for the future! Professor David Mba, FREng PFHEA generously agreed to participate in a student-led project I'm developing, providing invaluable guidance and support. He'll be sitting down with myself and a few other students for a discussion in the near future, which will be a fantastic opportunity to gain advice that benefits us all academically and personally. Professor David Mba, FREng PFHEA willingness to connect with students directly reflects his commitment to fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment at BCU. I'm incredibly grateful for this chance to learn from such a distinguished leader. Our conversation left me feeling incredibly motivated, both personally and professionally.
