Day 1 of CTCO in Lyon is in the books. It’s my first European #promotionalproducts trade show. A few impressions… 1) In the U.S., sustainability is still often viewed as a value-add. Here, it is table stakes. Sustainability is copy point No. 1 for almost every exhibitor. 2) The Europeans really, really want partnership and cooperation - both with one another, among their disparate associations and trade show groups, but also with the U.S. market. We’re working on that. 3) For distributors and suppliers alike, the focus at shows like CTCO is on deep conversations and relationship-building. These are not called booths, they are called salons, and in many of them, distributors are invited to sit down, have an espresso, and learn everything there is to learn about a product line. 4) Speaking of the salons, they are almost all really gorgeous designs. Even relatively small suppliers are investing in their space and aesthetic. 5) The U.S. supplier with the biggest presence appears to be Goldstar.
