How long is your commute? I'm generally curious to know... For the last couple of days I've been taking my daughter to work and our commute looks like this: Electric bike -> Metro -> Intercity train -> Didi (like Uber) With walking in between, it takes over two hours one way all told with waiting for trains and what not. Feels much like my first job, where I used to commute 90-minutes into London when I was an apprentice brewer. It's not every day, as it's to the brewery I help out at part-time with R&D plus, with OEM (contract brewery) clients. Other days I work-from-home... How long is your commute and what does it look like? For those with long commutes you have my sympathy... It really makes for what feels like a long day. On Saturday I went to London for pre birthday celebrations. I used to have no issues with hopping on a Virgin train, 1.5 hrs later being in London. Then Avanti trains came along and Virgin went. I can honestly say we have never had a train arrive on time (we have had lots just cancel). Saturday the train came but was late. Why? Because they were waiting for a crew member. This issue effected customer services and meant that Avanti had to give compensation to customers due to the delay. Maybe the employee was late to work, maybe the employee was called into work last min to cover sickness, whatever the reason as a customer it's not good enough. Your employee's can affect your business reputation. This is a direct example. Take action with employee conduct, otherwise it can really damage your business. The hiring of #HUBTalents has a special touch. It is Unique in the world. At HUB Airlines, employees come first. Normally, when Human Resources talk about people, they think about their clothing, hair, nice shining shoes, or some fake standard arguments that will convince an airline to hire someone, who needs a job (we need people beyond a job, we need to create a family, in real friends, who will work daily, be at home with their relatives, promoting peace and well-being for long term and years to come). This attitude creates well-being to the second and third levels of relationship: to customers and stakeholders. This is a profile, it does come from the heart, and it can not be faked. Technical skills are important, and we can practice and teach. Soft skills we can practice and teach. How about someone's heart? HUB Airlines has been talking with people in a different manner, we are looking for habits, good ones, and our hiring process is looking for some attitudes which tell us your heart first. This process of understanding the truth in people, a regular hiring process does not show, and many airlines simply do not care. We want people and animals (Yes we will hire pets, guide dogs and pets to calm down people who need to fly, as remember 1/3 of people around the world is afraid from flying, in some level ! Even considering flying as the safer transportation, after the elevator). Real attitudes, simplicity which brings Safety, Efficiency and Economy. We look for people with a true passion for people, animals and nature. We look for animals who love people, animals and nature ! (Also if your trained pet, meows or barks, come join us!) The clothing, well that comes in a second level, but our marketing team has worked nicely, to promote a nice looking too, even pilots and flight attendants, when seen by other people, stakeholders and even pets looking from outside to our team, the good looking aspect limits to see what we want the most, your true heart. WE, not ME. That is the attitude of a true leader, with a true heart. Is your heart ready to fly beyond yourself? This is just one job where I was expected to manage more than one area of expertise. I devoured the challenge and thrived on it! What else have I been up to? Two months fresh in Germany with a new job I organised a 30 year company anniversary, flying in 80 guests from Europe, creating a gold leaf lettered anniversary book of their history and a catering menu without knowing any suppliers. Working in Tripoli for oil and gas, importing cars and expat families' furniture to live in company villas, making sure they settled in with their kids and that our chauffeurs had a schedule for taking them to school, maintaining the villas, and negotiating with locals. Working for luxury motor yachts in the technical board, helping HNW clients resolve their boat issues (call me if your yacht needs fixing). These are the jobs I can talk about, every job has had it's good and bad times, but they have one thing in common. They all needed structure and systems alongside the daily the business. I stare in the face of challenge which was fundamental for me when I became a single mum and later, a working parent. Successful businesses have strong systems and successful people have indestructible family routines. They both create the backbone to build on. This helps keep chaos at a minimum. Both foundational structures are designed to work like clockwork every day so a business and family can smash it on a daily basis.
