Odds are you have heard of No-Shave November, but do you know the background beyond the viral movement? According to the official No-Shave November (Matthew Hill Foundation, Inc.) page, "No-Shave November has been a tradition for many years, but in 2009, the Chicago-based Hill family decided to reinvent the activity to raise money for charity. This project held special meaning to the eight Hill children after their father, Matthew Hill, passed away from colon cancer in November 2007." The goal of No-Shave November is relatively simple: donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle. With the help of social media, other organizations like Movember have raised millions of dollars for cancer awareness, as well as other men's health issues. Check out some of the foundations that No-Shave November is benefiting this year, and take some time this month to explore other organizations you can support this November. #noshavenovember https://lnkd.in/ddDQcQAV

Such a selfless act well done to both of you.
This is a story of how every one of us - no matter how big or small - has the power to make a positive impact in this world. My 9-y-o child had the idea of helping improve the life of at least one person affected by cancer and started this fundraiser where the money collected are donated to the Irish Cancer Society and at the end of the month both Johanna and I are going to donate our hair to the Rapunzel Foundation. The kindness and generosity have been so overwhelming and Johanna's target has nearly tripled to date. Please feel free share and help raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early diagnostics of cancer and support the priceless work of the Irish Cancer Society. https://lnkd.in/dt_ntUgi

Countdown to Impact: 5 Days Left in the April Head and Neck Cancer Alliance Move-a-thon 🏃♀️🙏 As the sun sets on this pivotal month, our shared journey of compassion and support takes on a more urgent pace. There are just 5 days left to contribute to a cause that’s much more than a statistic; it's a lifeline for those battling head and neck cancer. I set out with an ambition – a concise, yet significant goal of raising $150 through the Move-a-thon. This sum symbolizes hope – the equivalent of a night at a hotel for a travelling patient or easing the burden covering some essentials on treatment day. Each donation is a beacon of comfort, providing essentials like a gas card, parking, lunch, and sometimes the priceless gift of child care. While the road ahead is paved with possibility, the present moment reflects a challenging truth. I currently stand at 83% of my fundraising target. "The distance between where we are and where we aspire to be is measured not in miles but in moments of generosity." I humbly ask you to consider the value of your daily coffee – could it instead fund a gesture of immense value? A few dollars could mean the world to someone enduring the most challenging fight of their life. Together, we can fill these last few days with action and purpose. Let's rally to offer more than just relief; let’s provide a sanctuary of support for at least one patient in need. To donate, simply click on the link https://lnkd.in/e_d95i2c Your contribution, no matter the size, will weave into the tapestry of someone’s survival story. Let's make these remaining days count! Thank you for standing with me, for them. #HeadAndNeckCancer #HNCA #Moveathon #Support #Donate #CancerCare #MakeADifference

What does this awesome little guy have to do with lung cancer, you ask? This is one of our two dogs, Mr. Chew, and he LOVES walking at the Flowood Nature Park. I could have done better at self-care the last few years - including physical activity - and I'm working to change that. It's often easier to lace up my shoes if I have external motivators like Mr. Chew. Now, I'm adding another. Between now and October 26, 2004, I aim to raise at least $888 in support of LUNGevity Foundation. Their annual events, Breathe Deep TOGETHER and Breathe Deep ANYWHERE, are platforms for raising crucial funding to support all those living with lung cancer. I have two action items for my LinkedIn colleagues: 1) Please agree to be my "accountability partners" in my commitment to becoming more physically active while raising money to support LUNGevity's vital work, and 2) Please support my fundraiser if you can (link below). I promise to check in occasionally and keep you posted on my mileage, Mr. Chew, and my progress toward my fundraising goal. Mr. Chew says, "Whaddaya waiting for? Let's get walking!" https://lnkd.in/gQY_NgeD

We are halfway through a super important month, where I'm once again raising funds for the Movember Foundation! Check out the post below to learn more and make a donation. Why is Movember important? Men are still reluctant to talk about issues related to mental health, and awareness around how to identify signs for prostate and testicular cancer can be improved. A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. Movember is about changing that. How can you help? Have those conversations with the men in your life! And if you have the means and desire, you can make a donation to my Movember campaign right here: https://lnkd.in/gXMG4MAs Where does the money go? The Movember Foundation funds projects and initiatives from research to community outreach, all focused on engaging in topics surrounding mens health, and stopping men dying too young. Visit their website to learn more about the Foundation (https://lnkd.in/gtj7EnTq), or read stories (ca.movember.com/story) about the work they do.
