Here are three steps I have used that can help you establish yourself as a leader in your industry and increase your chances of landing your dream job. First, tighten up your branding. Ensure that your online presence is consistent and professional, including your LinkedIn profile, website, and any other social media accounts. Second, develop a marketing plan that identifies your target audience and creates a message that speaks to their needs and pain points. Use various marketing channels to get your message out there. Finally, execute your plan. Don't wait for opportunities to come to you - take action and reach out to your network. Show them the value you can bring to their team and why they need you. In this market, job applications alone won't cut it. You need to show your value and tell your story. By following these three steps, you can position yourself as a leader in your industry and increase your chances of landing your dream job.

People look for a stable job to cure uncertainty Just to realize that when they to get that amazing job, they will still feel uncertain (There could still be mass layoffs) Nothing is certain Except 1 thing! The more people know about you, the more opportunities you can rely on. How to make yourself known? 1. Websites with clear descriptions of who you are and what services you provide 2. Social media that clearly displays the product/service that you provide 3. A clear profile picture of how your face looks like. People remember faces better than names. 4. Reaching out directly to people in your industry and inviting them to have a 20 min Virtual Coffee These 4 things are the foundation starting a career. They are a must if you want to have people consistently reach out to you and hire you. Hope this helps!

It feels like we can’t go a day without hearing news about more layoffs. For some it may be the first time in their career. Others may be experiencing it for the second or third time. It can evoke a range of emotions. At first maybe you might feel relief, a renewed sense of self and motivated. After some rejection, radio silence or reading about horrors on LinkedIn: self-doubt kicks in. It’s a life event that could eat at your pride. Everyone has different obligations they need to tend to so, this may be easier said than done for some. It’s important to remember that your self-worth is more than your job. It’s also critical to try to keep a positive outlook. The process may take weeks it may take months. I’ve seen what looked like a barren job market turn on a dime. Lean on your network, make sure your professional brand is up to date and hire professional help when needed. I’m happy to make referral to recruiters, job coaches and connections in my network.

Your Network is Bigger Than You Think There have been a lot of layoffs in the last year so I've been on the phone with many amazing colleagues and friends who are now finding themselves looking for their next opportunity. I realized I was seeing a pattern in those conversations so sharing here in hopes it helps others: We all know the best way to find your next job is through your network. A referral not only ensures that a human will actually look at your information but also opens up roles that aren't posted on job boards. "But I don't have a network," you say. Ah, but you do. Even if you are not an extrovert or had an externally-facing job, you have a network. These folks know you, appreciate your work, and would jump at the chance to work with you again. If you don't know where to start, try this: - Reflect on your last three roles: Write down names of people you interacted with regularly. - Identify key connections: Highlight those you worked well with and feel confident would speak positively about your work. - Reach out on LinkedIn: Send a short message like: "Hi [Name], I'd greatly appreciate your advice. I'm currently on the hunt for my next role and, as someone whose opinion I value and who knows my work, I'd love your guidance on where to look and what type of role I should focus on." (Customize in your own words of course:) - Set a daily goal: Reach out to at least two people a day. You'll be surprised how many people want to help. They may not know of a perfect open role, but they'll offer feedback and ideas. Plus, you’ve reconnected with someone you like and had a pleasant chat. Win-win! Of course, this assumes you’re a hard worker and a team player. If you’re struggling to think of anyone you enjoyed working with or who would want to work with you again, well, maybe it’s time for a little soul-searching. 😉 In this crazy world, it’s easy to get cynical. But one-to-one, humans are generally great and generous and want to help each other out. So go find your people. You have them - I promise.

With so many friends going through layoffs and looking for jobs - I just want to say: Please remember that many people are really suffering right now. And it's not just from layoffs, people experience really hard times in life regardless, this might just be *one more thing* on top of the rest. What are some things you can do to help out a friend or connection going through this experience? -Send them a note :) Tell them the truth - that this sucks and that they are wonderful and talented! -Write them a fantastic LinkedIn recommendation -Send them a list of companies where you have close friends/connections, and offer to try to help elevate their application by pinging one of your contacts if they apply to a role there -If you live in the same city, invite them to do something fun and don't bring up the layoff (unless they do!) -If you're a recruiter: ANSWER PEOPLE OMG!! What is wrong with these recruiters who don't get back to people that *they* contacted? And be nice, I have decided between offers based off of my experience with recruiters (One specific recruiter comes to mind who was kind, checked in frequently, and gave me feedback... and I actually changed my mind on which offer I was going to accept as a result!) If you were laid off and you're reading this, I am spending about 10 mins a (week)day answering messages and pinging contacts to help people I'm connected with. I may or may not be able to help you but ping me anyway, and I'll get back to you soon enough! And keep your chin up, you are fabulous and I know there are brighter days ahead for you! 💓 Future You will look back on this experience and be proud of Today's You for making it through, keep going.

One piece of advise for those on my team that were affected, and for anyone, really, who has been laid off recently: ⚡ Don't turn the job hunt into your full time gig, don't let it become your obsession. Each day, checkout the new job postings, and apply. Then disconnect and do something else - anything else. For me, I have to physically leave my home office. The more I sit in front of my laptop, the more I want to dwell on the search (whether its going well or not), and the more it depresses me. 😢 So don't dwell - do what you need to do, and then disconnect. Obviously keep your phone with you for calls/emails from potential employers and recruiters, but don't stare at the email screen or the LinkedIn feed or the job boards waiting for something to change. I am about to go and mow my lawn and enjoy the sunshine. Any other advise for those hit by layoffs? Comment below - I could use all the help I can get!

Many of us have been laid off due to the current economic situation, and we are all experiencing the same frustrations. Like Carolina, I have been silent for a long time, but I feel that it is essential to let our community know that WE need help! It's the end of the 1st quarter and it seems it's more difficult now to get a job than ever before. During this journey, I have met many people who have offered various suggestions, such as "Get a Coach (for a fee)," "Rebrand and Update your LinkedIn profile," "Send a message to the job poster," and "Use other resources besides LinkedIn to find your next job." While these resources are helpful, some have shared that they have tried everything and are still struggling to find employment. It can be frustrating that recruiters often express interest in candidates and their backgrounds, but for some unknown reason, they fail to follow up and work with the candidates. Recruiters: please stop doing this and communicate with the candidates! Now, I understand that the job search process can be mentally and physically challenging. However, I urge you not to lose hope and stay focused on finding your next employment opportunity. Remember that there are kind-hearted individuals who are willing to assist you without expecting anything in return. Recruiters: Reach out to candidates TODAY, as You could be the Joy that fills their Hearts, by getting them a Job, that will help them Survive!

This has marked my 2nd month since I experienced a layoffs the firsthand. It's a grueling period. Nothing more, nothing less. When you need a job, it's a typical story of getting ghosted by recruiters. The usual stuff. However, not all experience is a bad one. I'm fortunate enough to have a good time in the job hunting. Where I can talk easily with the recruiters. And one of them even gave me an encouragement that it's not the end of the world. It is. But for sure, it's almost the end of my severance package, lol. As an attempt to give value to my suffering. I tried to create a data-driven approach, by tracking my whole process: how many jobs I applied, from which platform, how many passed the screening, how many went thru the interview, until finally how many ended up as an offering letter. But after constant rejection, my spirit broke 🤡. So the tracker stopped at around 200+ job application. Hahaha. (Edited: Fat finger incident on the job application amount) I may try to complete it. Create a pretty deck. And who knows it may be helpful for jobseekers out there. That you're not alone in this cesspool called "The cycle of job application and get ghosted" Life's hard. But we can make it through.

Look out for yourself. You are just a resource to the company. If you did a good job but are passed over for a promotion or raise, update your CV. Get a recruiter hunting you for a better offer? Get the job. You don't owe loyalty. The org doesn't owe you loyalty either. If they hit bad times or shift strategy, they will lay you off. Sometimes, just to hit numbers. Interviewing with the other company should not take 10 rounds and multiple assessments. If they keep letting you jump through hoops, find another circus. If you get bullied or treated badly, send your CV out. Test the waters. Do that even if things are going well. Your manager pressuring you to take calls at night, on the weekends? Colleagues not respecting boundaries? No place is worth your mental and physical health. You'll find something else. Own your life. Reducing commitments - mortgages, payments, debt, etc helps with it. Starting side gigs and having extra sources of income liberates you. You own your career. Don't rely on or trust anyone else. If you think that's paranoid or callous, look back on the great tech layoffs last year. And if you don't want to agree or comment with this for fear of colleagues and managers seeing it...
