A big thank you to Sabrina Saase (without pronouns) for making a real difference to all students at ESCP Business School Berlin but especially to the Queer community still facing barriers. Celebrating Pride 🏳️🌈 all year around is not just about what has been achieved, but also what can be done better and what we should be addressed. Raising awareness and visibility remains paramount to making an equitable case for change. But visibility is only one part of the conversation, the other is invisibility. As the most recent report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights has noted "discrimination remains invisible as only 11 % of LGBTIQ people reported incidents to any official body" - although respondents to the survey were aware of dedicated equality bodies, reporting was low because of a lack of trust that anything would happen if they did report. What is even more worrying, LGBTIQ people often feel discriminated against on several grounds based on multiple and intersecting characteristics - disability, religion, ethnicity, race. Visibility can help create trust in the equitable organisations that are needed to help diminish invisibility. Education plays a big part in supporting and creating a diverse and equitable mindset that later on imparts on the workplace. According to the EY/espnW Report (2015), a staggering 94% of women in C-Suite positions have a background in sports. This underscores the profound impact of sports in honing crucial leadership skills like project management, motivation, and team building—qualities that pave the way for future career success. Over the past five years, the percentage of women holding board seats in the national sport system has increased by 9 points (from 34% in 2018 to 43% in 2023). Still more to do. The Women in Sport Leadership Snapshots highlight and celebrate recent successes in sport leadership diversity at the national and provincial and territorial levels. They also challenge sport organizations to continue to embed gender equity in their organizations and bring diversity, beyond gender, to their boards and senior leadership teams so more women, girls, and gender-diverse people are represented in the sport system and can benefit from the power of sport. https://lnkd.in/gKAbqEru
