Today is my last day at AWS and I must say it´s a weird feeling signing off for the last time (this time around anyway). It´s bittersweet to leave since I´ve had almost 4 great years with a lot of learnings, amazing colleagues and awesome customers. When I started in AWS, the manufacturing team consisted of only 4 people Michel PUTNIK, Bart Schouwenaars-Harms, Douglas Bellin, & Steve Blackwell and I was the first boots on the ground in EMEA. Fast forward to today, looking at current organization with several hundreds of people focusing on manufacturing exclusively, hard to believe the growth we had since end of 2019. It´s been an amazing journey. There are many people I want to give a "shout out" to for the great collaboration we had over the last 4 years. I am sure I will forget someone, don´t be shy and call me out on it. Ok, here we go! Besides the colleagues already mentioned 🙏 above, I want to start with my tech stack. Jan Metzner, Ivan Mirandolle, Arie Leeuwesteijn, Hauke Juhls, Sounavo Dey, Marcel van Ommen, Mihir Choudhary, Graham Smith, Thibaut Grandmougin,Tolla Cherwenka, big thx for your great work enabling cloud and edge technology at AWS customers. Next up is on the product side. My god there is a lot of work making great software a commercially available AWS service. Thx for your dedication and hard work to bring our software to the shopfloor Nimay Mehta, Reno Philip, James Destro and Kim Houchens, Ph.D. Not to mention all the writing 😉 But what good is a product if you don´t have a market to address and customers to deliver to? So lets do the commercial stack. This list can be made very long but hopefully no one is offended if I slip and forget their names. I got to start with my extended Prodigy team of course, Ethem Azun, Sanja Cale, Abhishek Murghai, Christopher Kopinski. In 2016, my employer required employees to learn Amazon Web Services (AWS). During his course at A Cloud Guru, Ryan Kroonenburg told us he would be at re:Invent. I wanted to go to re:Invent to meet him. Unfortunately, even after becoming fully certified on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and being one of the less than 200 people worldwide, I failed to secure a budget to re:Invent. 🚀 My 2 cents on getting certified in the cloud space! 🚀 Learning cloud technologies have had a significant impact on my career, and I think it's worth knowing more about them for a few reasons: 1️⃣ Practical Application: During my certification preparation, I learned new services and discovered different ways to use them. This knowledge didn't just stay on paper; I applied it to build production workloads for my customers. For example, leveraging autoscaling life-cycle hooks to perform custom actions on EC2 instances. 🌐 2️⃣ Validation of Knowledge: Certifications serve as a solid validation of the AWS services and solutions we already know about. It's a way to showcase our expertise and demonstrate our commitment to staying updated in this ever-evolving field. 🔍 3️⃣ Networking: Getting certified opens doors to a network of like-minded individuals. The cloud community is vast, and connecting with others who share your passion can lead to valuable collaborations, knowledge-sharing, and even career opportunities. 🤝 When it comes to learning the cloud, especially for beginners, my advice is simple: 🔹 Hands-On Learning: Dive into hands-on labs and experiment with the services. The best way to learn is by doing! 🔹 Freelancing Projects: Take on freelancing projects to gain real-world experience and put your skills to the test. 🔹 Build and Automate: Create your own projects, whether it's building a website, automating tasks, or solving real-world problems. Practical experience is key. Remember, certification alone doesn't guarantee job security, but it's an excellent tool for validating your cloud knowledge. I want to reshare this as this is great advice for any companies who are looking to maximize their return with their AWS partnership and especially when AWS marketplace listing is part of the GTM. Focus and messaging are key to obtaining ISV's desired business outcomes. Not all conversations net results. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight.

You know how you get to your office one day or look around your house, and you figure the space might need some refreshing... Then you start moving things around and stumble upon great memories that make you forget what you were doing in the first place. Well, it might have happened to me. Here’s the first AWS certification we achieved at ClickIT. It’s incredible to think about how motivated I was to get it and how over 80% of our engineers are certified today. 🚀 Exploring the cloud and AWS is always interesting and fits right in with our belief of always getting better. Always learning and evolving. 🌐💡 It’s also a good example of how, as leaders, initiating change begins with us. We must get the ball rolling to encourage our team! Just a moment that made me feel proud today. What is one thing you can recognize yourself or your team today?
