Those smiles can only mean one thing... it's Draft Day! Today I got to join our NGSA Summer Interns in Round Rock, TX as they learned who's team they would be joining for the remainder of the summer. The excitement, community, and eagerness to get started was undeniable--I can't wait to see the incredible things you accomplish alongside each other. For those of you completing summer internships, here are four tips I'd like to share with you: 1. Lean into your experience. Raise your hand in the classroom, ask the 'silly' question, and volunteer for the project. Maximize every day and you'll walk away knowing that you got the most out of your summer internship. 2. Build a network. There are many tenured and passionate industry professionals who have waited months to invest in you--seek out their mentorship and form connections. 3. Look at failure as another piece of the puzzle. As uncomfortable as it may seem, trust that every obstacle and setback leads you one step closer to success. 4. Explore the city you're in! Whether you're close to home or visiting somewhere new for the first time, be intentional in immersing yourself. I'm immensely grateful to play a small role in your journeys to Dell and now it's time to cheer you on from the sidelines! #Iwork4dell

Hiring interns for 2025 is on! Today's article by Lindsay Ellis at the WSJ discusses the VERY early timelines college students follow to get highly coveted summer internships (and ultimately full time jobs.) ✨ Recruiting cycles for investment banking and consulting have continuously moved up as they compete in attracting top talent (and more specifically top diverse talent). We created strategies that encouraged early outreach to sophomores and even first years to get ahead. But for companies starting new internship programs or thinking about Summer 2024, these timelines may be new and feel early to hire. 💡 It's critical companies understand existing timelines in order to access the talent you want. While you don't always have to hire 15 months in advance, depending on your industry (like financial services, consulting & tech), you may be missing out on candidates because you plan your strategy too late. ✋ Good News - As a Campus Recruiting expert, I can build an effective early careers strategy that attracts top junior talent in a competitive market for your internship programs. Reach out for any inquiries.

🌟 Embracing Interns: The Backbone of Innovation 🌟 Interns aren't just coffee runners or document filers. They're the lifeblood of fresh perspectives and untapped potential! 💡 Here's why we value our interns: 1️⃣ Diverse Perspectives: Interns inject new ideas and fresh viewpoints into our projects, challenging the status quo and sparking innovation. 2️⃣ Skill Development: Internships offer invaluable hands-on experience, nurturing talent and cultivating the leaders of tomorrow. 3️⃣ Bridging Generations: Interns bridge the gap between seasoned professionals and the digital-native generation, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. 4️⃣ Mutual Growth: As interns learn from us, we learn from them! It's a symbiotic relationship where both parties grow and evolve together. Want to learn more about the Key to Career program with Darlington County School District? "We shouldn't have to do that" Recently I was talking to someone in the industry and that was their sentiment surrounding extended & enhanced onboarding for new summer interns. We had just discussed how our Workforce Development team gets a full week to get our new summer interns (current college students studying something construction or engineering related) and how appreciative we are that our Execs & Operations Team fully support this investment. Should we HAVE to do this? To me that is irrelevant - we have data and anecdotal evidence showing that we NEED to do this. Our commitment to "Investing In People" compels us to take the time necessary to set these young folks (most of whom are new to the industry) up for success & for "Winning In The Field" Reminds us of the quote from Henry Ford: "The only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay." It's good for the interns, Sargent, our industry, and our region(s). And it's a really fun week for Kevin Gordon & me! 😃 pictured: Meredith Brewer, Sargent Foreman and the architect of our internship program giving the new New England interns a peptalk! 📸 Kevin
