🌐 T1556.009 - Detect and prevent suspicious conditional access policy modifications 🗝 In April 2024, MITRE came with their new V15 version of ATT&CK. In this version a new sub-technique was introduced called 'T1556.009 - Modify Authentication Process: Conditional Access Policies'. Because of this addition, I wanted to wright a blog post on how we can detect and prevent suspicious conditional access policy changes. CrowdStrike outage could be ‘biggest cyber incident in history as update sparks global chaos for airlines, hospitals and banks Technical Details and Workaround CrowdStrike acknowledged the issue, identifying a Channel File in the update as the culprit. This file can be addressed individually, allowing users to retain the Falcon Sensor update. The company has provided the following workaround steps for affected systems: Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory. Locate and delete the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”.
