November is National Native American History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American peoples throughout history. This month provides an opportunity to recognize the important role that Native Americans have played in shaping the United States and to learn more about their history, heritage, and contemporary issues. It is important to acknowledge that Native American history is not limited to the past but is a living, dynamic part of our present. By learning about Native American history and engaging with Native American communities, we can foster mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation for the vibrant tapestry of cultures that make up the United States.

In May, we take time to "reflect and celebrate the important role that Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) have played in our shared history." There are so many unique, fascinating cultures that make up this region! During the month of May, we celebrate Asian/Pacific Islander American Heritage Month – a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island). Enacted on October 28, 1992, in the U.S. The purpose of the law is to honor the achievements of Asian/Pacific Americans and to recognize their contributions to the United States.
