Just finished the course “Designing Scenario-Based Learning” by Karl Kapp! The way he explained all the complex concepts are just mind blowing. Few key takeaways from the course. Set Clear Goals: Define what learners should achieve in the scenario. Plan Sequences: Decide the order of decisions and consequences. Character & Setting: Create diverse characters and settings. Alternate Paths: Design different learner paths. Feedback Strategy: Determine feedback type and timing. Use Visualization Tools: Employ tools for design clarity. Maintain Engagement: Add intrigue and surprises. End Wrong Paths: Consider ending clear wrong choices. Practice Real-Life Situations: Base mistakes on real misconceptions. In the last nearly two years I have been running my own consulting practice focusing on Learning/Training and Development and Program Evaluations, I have had a few opportunities to work with organizations to start their learning/training and development teams, functions and processes from scratch. An overarching L&D framework framed based upon data evidence based needs analysis is a great roadmap to being clear on your organisation's goals and needs to ensure your L&D set-up is a proper, targeted one. You can't hope to drive your car to its destination without a clear idea of either the direction on your own or with the help of a roadmap! A soundly crafted L&D framework is of critical importance in this regards so you have the key components in place. ADDIE is the good old instructional design model that many leverage upon but many other scientifically validated ones such as Dick and Carrey have come up that are more in tune with a learner centric organizational focus. #instructionaldesign #learninganddevelopment #learningdesign
