Always love seeing you IRL with folks, Drew! My favorite bit from today is "Focus relentlessly on building careers." As a #fractional Brand and Creative Director, when I take on team ownership, my 1:1s are never just about "What are you doing? What's next? Any blockers?" I'm always trying to help folks stay engaged in developing their careers, not just doing their jobs.
Your expertise is truly commendable, Drew Neisser! We love this content and are looking forward to more. It's another important leadership insight! Well done! We stand behind your mission. 🚀🚀💜
Loving the vibes in this room! Empathy is clearly the common thread and we all know the world can never get enough of it. Also, checked out the CMO Huddles site and learned a group of penguins is called a huddle!
Building resumes for your team really speaks to me. When I was in-house, I used to tell new hires that my job is to prepare them for their next job, whether it's with our firm or another. Great in person huddle Drew Neisser!
So many great ideas but to me the listening piece is such a huge component of a great leader. When you listen you not only hear what people need, you're better able to give it to them.
"Listen and learn" - love that Ajay Manglani and "Focus on building careers of the people who work for you" - great tip James (JD) Dillon.
Great tips! All of these are insightful, and I can relate to "Defend your team when they're under pressure" and "Be there for your team, in work and beyond."
Great insights—especially being their for your team—and I'm so jealous these fine CMOs got to see the penguin cap in person!
Being there for your team, in work and beyond is key for a team leader, Drew Neisser

3wI love James (JD) Dillon's tip about building your staff's resumes FOR them so they never have to use it. That's a great piece of advice in an era where people's results are more important than their resumes. Also, a former staff member of mine benefitted greatly from that approach - she went from an HR Coordinator role into a managerial role with a big salary bump as a result of the work experience she got in the lower-level job. Very proud of her as she continues to evolve and grow.
