Steve Presley, CEO of Nestle North America, the largest business unit in the largest food company in the world, demonstrates many aspects of the type of leadership needed now in organizations in this informative TED Countdown talk. A few key points stand out: - Nestle is has begun a bold journey toward sustainability and in particular, regenerative farming - It's clear their commitment is woven into their strategy and how they approach partnerships; and it inspires their many thousands of employees - They are making significant progress, given the complexity and scale of the problems they are tackling - They are transparent about the challenges to making faster progress (how to shape the industry beyond their scope, broken recycling infrastructure, lack of industry urgency). Steve demonstrates this commitment, boldness, transparency and humility in how he discusses and shares Nestle's actions and learnings. We need more leaders like Steve to step out and share their progress, their learnings and where they continue to need urgent collaboration. Thanks Steve. California is going to create a definition of 'Regenerative.' California's definition has the potential to impact foods that all Americans care about.
