Employers have obligations. When you get a consumer report, there's adverse information in that report which may lead you to take an adverse action against the applicant, not hiring them, for example, or revoking a conditional offer or changing their their compensation or their hours or other adverse actions like that. You have an obligation under the FCRA to provide the individual with a copy of that report before you take action on it and also provide them. The copy of the summary of rights that they have under the Fair Credit Reporting Act that's been issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The CFPB updated that FCR a summary of rights last year, primarily to update contact information for the various federal agencies that enforce the FCRA in different industry sectors. To make it a little more complicated, they also had to issue a technical correction to that revised notice in August. Where they corrected a couple of errors in the the earlier version, but the Long story short, there's now a new summary of rights which uses required by March 20.
