Low revenues amongst Black and Brown entrepreneurs remains prevalent to date. According to The Alliance for Entrepreneurial Equity's 2024 report on the state of Black Businesses, there is still a lot of work to be done to close the racial revenue gap amongst entrepreneurs, as illustrated in the graphic below. A common misconception is that helping Black and Brown entrepreneurs achieve their business goals is detrimental to other groups. The reality is that all of society benefits from closing the racial wealth gap, not just those currently at the bottom of the drastically uneven wealth distribution in our economy. Brian is one of the most unique individuals I’ve met through this journey. Not only is he incredibly ambitious when it comes to his entrepreneurial journey, but he also speaks 3 languages and graduated law school while building his businesses. He brings unique perspectives from working in industrial Germany for a time, while also being a nature fanatic. There’s definitely more than meets the eye with Brian. His story is inspiring to those that are working a “traditional” career, that you can take the lessons learned and apply them to future entrepreneurial endeavors. The Bumpy Road of Business Partnerships I’ve started over 50 businesses in my life, and of course, not all of them were meant to last forever.  Partnership is a great way to start a business, but it comes with its costs. Let me explain by sharing a couple of my earlier partnership experiences. Starting a snack bar with friends after my military service taught me a hard lesson in trust and partnership. Initially, things looked promising: we were making profits and gaining a good reputation.  However, as soon as the major hurdles seemed cleared and I fully trusted my partners, their true colors showed. They started to be evasive and even took money from the cash register. Needless to say, our partnership eventually dissolved. What’s the second story?
