I read some article from the World Economic Forum and the basic message was that the future is all about Climate and Conflict.Im more aligned to the climate side. Since the promulgation of the new constitution in 2010,my beloved country Kenya has had national elections on 4th March 2013,August 8th 2017 and 9th August 2022. Here is some data on night and day temperatures on those dates derived from some wether based sites. 4th March 2013……16 degrees Celsius at night and 29 degrees Celsius daytime 8th August 2017….:15 degrees Celsius at night and 22 degrees Celsius daytime 9th August 2022…..13 degrees Celsius at night and 22 degrees celcius daytime. The data shows declining day and night temperatures on the material election dates in Kenya. Election management bodies can not afford to hit the ignore button on climate change in relation to elections.Its now that there is need to adopt a“climate on the ballot” policy. Note a decline in temperature by one degree Celsius could result to: 1.People becoming more prone to viruses.This could cause illness and affect voter turnout out. 2.The air becomes drier causing respiratory difficulties.Older voters may prefer to remain indoors and humidify rather than form long ques to vote. 3.Low body temperatures which is detrimental to the normal functioning of body organs including the brain which tells someone to wake up,que and vote. How to influence climate policy in the UK general election The General Election on 4 July gives voters rare power to shape UK climate change policy. It may happen only once in the next 5 years. However, the ‘first past the post’ election system for this election disenfranchises most voters: only undecided ‘swing’ voters in marginal seats, where the result is in doubt, have a real say in which party will govern the country. This favours tactical voting, in which people vote not for the candidate they most prefer, but for whoever is most likely to defeat the candidate they do not want to be their member of parliament. VoteClimate https://voteclimate.uk/ will advise voters on tactical voting. It will recommend which party in each constituency to vote for that will have the strongest influence on climate policies of the next UK government. So, for example, if VoteCLimate judges that the Conservative party manifesto is relatively weak on climate policies, it will advise which party with a better set of climate policies has the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate in each constituency. This aims to empower voters to make informed decisions in line with their climate views. I urge you to vote in this election, if you can, and to influence the direction of UK climate policy towards a better future.

Public opinion, climate change and the UK general election - Is there more that unites us, or more that divides us? So far, there doesnt seem to have been much from the political parties and wanna-be MPs in the run up to the UK general election on the environment and climate change. There has been a little on water quality and sewage dumping (which has been a problem for a while now...), but little else. What do the voters think?
