Lately, I've again seen various attempts to model things people run into when they try to get grip on a specific issue. Like https://lnkd.in/ekFUdUkb and https://lnkd.in/eMN9PtJG My conclusion - as always - is that [1] it is utterly meaningless to try and create cross-references of practice-based frameworks and standards. The only thing these cross-references will ever provide is that "it is difficult", or "it is a tricky problem, not easy to nail down". [2] modeling is useless if you don't get your dimensions straight. These models are never structured along clear dimensions, so the cross-references are 'rough' against 'rough', and you can use the results for whatever you want to read in them. The models are not helping anyone in finding sustainable directions, unless they use a clear architecture based on consistent definitions and non-redundant building blocks. And I always wonder why seasoned professionals still come up with these models... Is this because of cultural reasons, is it a business model that pays for their mortgage, haven't they learned it at school, or what?
A few weeks ago I published an IT Risk Management Framework aimed at DORA, the framework was taken as was from an earlier book on Strategy Technology Risk. I should have stated that the framework was very much a starting point and a work in progress and was very surprised at the number of hits (thanks to all). However, the framework was obviously not sufficient for building DORA. I attach a later version which is still a work in progress but more appropriate and more up to date. This is a tricky problem and will not be easy to nail down:) #operationalresilience #dora
