Some time ago I wrote a post about things you should know when you are young. There was some great feedback and I thought I would post one of those each Sunday. These came from John Bullen, some great advice here: ·      Think for yourself. We are all taught to do as we are told and believe what we are told. We need independent thinkers to challenge and prome gress us as a species. Most of us spend too much time in our comfort zones ·      Love. Love yourself and love others without conditions. We say “just do you” but most don’t mean it. Unconditional love can heal, create miracles and allows us to all meet our potential ·      Learn to listen to understand not listen to respond. We are taught as kids that the fastest “right” answer is best so all most of us do is listen to give our answers ·       Be responsible for the impact of your actions. Not just your intentions. We need people who are responsible for their impact even if they think they are doing good ·      Don’t quit. Excuses are so easy but anything good takes time and effort

It's easy to feel uncared for when people aren't able to communicate and connect with you in the way you need. And it's so hard not to internalize that silence as a reflection on your worth. But the truth is that the way other people operate is not about you. Most people are so caught up in their own responsibilities, struggles, and anxiety that the thought of asking someone else how they're doing doesn't even cross their mind. They aren't inherently bad or uncaring-they're just busy and self-focused. And that's okay. It's not evidence of some fundamental failing on your part. It doesn't make you unloveable or invisible. It just means that those people aren't very good at looking beyond their own world. But the fact that you are that despite the darkness you feel, you have the ability to share your love and light with others-is a strength. Your work isn't to change who you are; it's to find people who are able to give you the connection you need. Because despite what you feel, you are not too much. You are not too sensitive or too needy. You are thoughtful and empathetic. You are compassionate and kind. And with or without anyone's acknowledgement or affection, you are enough. "Wisdom is a God-given and God-centered discernment regarding the practical issues in life" As we go into the new year we should be resolute to practice wisdom when we communicate with others and we should chose our words wisely and consider the impact. The perfect example are the words "Get Over It" which should never be uttered in an attempt to soothe the pain that someone is enduring. Kindness doesn't always require a verbal response, often it is the non-verbal listening response that is the kindest. This is especially true when dealing with the emotional pain of loss. For example: "Getting over it is not what we do when we literally lose a piece of our heart. We don't get over it and live on, we live forward the best we know how and the best we can. Love doesn't magically end because someone is not physically here any longer. We carry them with us as we learn to do life without them, but we carry with us an indescribable pain that doesn't go away. Our New Year's resolutions should not always be about our personal goals and achievements but rather what can we do to encourage others to achieve their goals.

1. No reply is the ultimate reply. 2. Never let somebody waste your time twice. 3. Love what you have before life teaches you to love what you lost. 4. Do more things that makes you forget to check your phone. 5. Someone’s lack of reciprocation is not an invitation for you to convince them of your worth. 6. You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses. 7. Sometimes your heart needs more time to accept what your mind already knows. 8. You don’t always need a logical reason for doing everything. Try to do something just because you want. 9. The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. 10.The bad news: nothing lasts forever. Tuesday’s tip from the Coach’s Corner…. Be impeccable with your words. Being impeccable with your word really means never use the power of your words against yourself or spread emotional poison by gossiping about someone else. Key ingredients to being impeccable with your words: 1. Speak with integrity - Be truthful , say what you mean, mean what you say. 2. Honor your commitment. Do what you say you’re going to do, or if you’re unable to keep your commitment, just let them know. 3. Don’t speak out against others. Avoid gossip, diminishing words against others and negative self-talk. 5. Speak with compassion. Use your words for kindness and love, to inspire and encourage. Using the power of your words in the direction of truth and love is life changing. The kinder your words the more meaningful your life will be.

My Surname is “Power” Yes, my surname is “Power.” I was born with it. I’ve grown up and grown older with it. It is a blessing and a responsibility for which I am sometimes not prepared. I’m also short. Both can be a hindrance or a help to respect (self- or from others). Some people challenge just because of my name. Others are certain I changed it from something else. A few even think I am too pressed down, patted flat, and made light of. The challenge is really this: I own my personal power and Power. I’ve spent a lot of time and thought on the issue of power, what it is, how people develop or acquire it, and how it is used. The right use of power (or Power). I’ve come to believe it is, for me, to take actions that promote the greatest good and highest call for all involved. The catch is, what do I believe is the greatest good? Do I have the right or the obligation to define that for others? Is the answer to any of these arrogance or humility? If I say it’s humility, does it become arrogance? It’s delicate. How to exercise influence. How to gracefully back up when you don’t need to fight. How to identify and do the right thing, the thing that promotes Love. How to Light up a room even when the electricity is off (and the Power is still on). Names matter. Power, and how it is used, matters.

CHALLENGE   How do you find out what you’re really made of? How do you find out who you really are if you’re not tested? Well, believe it or not it’s through your pain (or at least it can be). Yeah, for those of us not gifted with life purpose from life itself, yah it’s when you’re pushed, it’s how you respond to fear, it’s jumping before you’re ready.   Furthermore, through just these few examples, this is how you truly value the good times. How you wholly appreciate love, how you gain that deeper understanding of compassion. It make us put our best foot forward. It’s what we put into any situation (ourselves), that’s what we get out of it. Even if it seems completely helpless, I assure you the reward comes from accepting the challenge.
