The 2023 Edition of the E-ATP Conference will take place in Vienna, Austria!
Vienna is one of those European capitals where history is omnipresent. there was a settlement there 5 centuries B.C. already, it has been the de facto capital of the Holy Roman Empire for over 1000 years and that of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after that. It remains a thriving cultural hub, one of the wealthiest regions of the European Union and the gateway to Eastern Europe, with Bratislava and Budapest a short cruise away.
It is an apt location for a conference that calls itself the European Home of Assessment: indeed, the 2023 Edition of the European Association of Test Publishers'Conference will take place in downtown Vienna (and not in one of the suburbs).
I have never missed an E-ATP conference since 2015 (Dublin). The entire ecosystem of test owners, test sponsors, platform providers, test forensics and assessment research is represented: the buyer side, the vendor side, the stakeholders, the innovators, the industry leaders, the start-ups, everyone is there and everyone has a voice.
The public sector and the private sector, the education folks and the talent management experts, the content developers, the psychometricians: the whole gamut is covered.
Hot topics will of course include the use of generative AI in testing and scoring, without eschewing ethical considerations. Diversity, equity and inclusion will be examined across the entire life-cycle of an assessment, from development to use cases, from language to cultural bias.
This is where anyone involved in the testing industry can learn from peers, share experiences, observe trends, and network. E-ATP has consistently helped me challenge (and broaden) my views, shown me avenues to explore (which have led to several success stories), and I made more friends there than at any other conference.
That's why cApStAn Linguistic Quality Control is proud to be one of the Conference's Silver Sponsors.
Under the impulse of Conference Chair Neil Wilkinson and Deputy Chair Chelsea Dowd, the E-ATP Steering Committee has done a sterling job of setting this up:
The venue is exceptionally well located and the agenda is compelling. The keynote speakers are European: we have 🧑🏿 Germán Bencci for the Opening Keynote "Tearing up the Certificates: The Measure Is Not the Target" and Oded Vanunu for the Closing Keynote "The Upside Down: Unraveling the Underworld of Cybercrime Syndicates".
Be sure to register before 29 August: early bird rates last until then.
See you in Vienna!
