The tech industry has a diversity problem, and it's time for us to take action! โจโจAs IT recruiters, we play a crucial role in promoting inclusivity and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. Research shows that diverse teams are more innovative, productive, and successful. Yet, women, people of color, and individuals with disabilities are still underrepresented in tech. So, what can we do to change this? - Use inclusive language in job descriptions - Remove bias from the hiring process - Partner with organizations that support underrepresented groups - Offer training and resources for employees from diverse backgrounds We want to hear from you! What do you think can be done to promote DEI during the recruitment process? โ #CareerAdviceThursday tip: When you feel like an imposter in a space, remember it's not you; it's the system of biases and barriers that hold women and other people from traditionally marginalized groups back. โ Here are some steps companies can take to support employees from traditionally marginalized backgrounds and help foster connectivity at work. โ โ 1. Track metrics and set goals. This looks like setting and tracking representation, hiring, and promotions targets by both race and gender so women of color are not overlooked. โ โ 2. De-bias hiring and promotions decisions. Set clear and specific evaluation criteria for hiring and performance reviews and put evaluators through unconscious bias training to eliminate unfair, gendered assumptions.โ โ 3. Offer career development programs for women and women of color (e.g. formal sponsorship and/or mentorship programs specifically for women and/or women of color).โ Original tweet by @devibhattaraii on Twitter. โ

Hello ๐. I know itโs been a while and I barely post on this app(which will soon change๐) but I just wanted to share something about my journey in the tech industry. Whilst working at Enterprise Holdings Iโve come to understand the role and importance diversity and inclusion can play in the tech industry. I think this is because at Enterprise Holdings, we have a strong culture of inclusion and diversity which Iโm so proud to be part of. These are some tips Iโve learnt from my workplace and from personal experience, of how we can all create a more inclusive workplace: * Be mindful of your language. Avoid using stereotypes or generalizations. * Be respectful of everyone's differences. This includes their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. * Create a safe space for everyone to share their ideas and opinions. Let me know, which challenges have you faced in the tech industry? You can share in the comments so others can be aware.

how does your industry support diversity, equity, and inclusion ? The tech industry, where I originate from, has been increasingly focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in recent years. This support includes: 1. Diverse Hiring: Tech companies are working to diversify their workforce through inclusive hiring practices and recruiting from underrepresented groups. 2. Inclusive Policies: Implementing policies to support work-life balance, parental leave, and anti-discrimination measures. 3. Training and Education: Providing diversity training and education to employees to foster understanding and awareness. 4. ERGs: Establishing Employee Resource Groups to create safe spaces and support for underrepresented communities within the company. 5. Outreach and Mentorship: Engaging with communities to encourage underrepresented groups to pursue tech careers and providing mentorship programs. 6. Data Transparency: Sharing diversity metrics and progress reports to hold companies accountable. However, it's important to note that there's still work to be done, and DEI efforts vary by company and industry. DEI is a continuous journey towards a more inclusive and equitable workplace.๐ผ

Transforming Disability Inclusion in Corporate Workforce! ย Through its Inclusion Transformation Platform, Saarathee is revolutionizing Diversity and Inclusion in Indiaโs corporate sector. One aspect of this is ensuring successful recruitment by matching appropriately skilled candidates to specified job roles. ย Our hiring team works hard to ensure the process is professionally productive for all stakeholders, including persons with disabilities and company representatives. ย When we receive appreciation from both parties on a successful intervention, it motivates us to work harder and create a wider impact. Hereโs a testimonial for a recruitment drive for Vaco Binary Semantics where 10+ candidates with disabilities were placed across different functions. ย Sheetal Bajaj, Human Resources, Vaco Binary Semantics: โFrom sourcing candidates to facilitating interviews and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience, Team Saarathee played a pivotal role in making this inclusion initiative a success. They showed genuine passion, strategic approach, attention to detail, setting a new standard for recruitment partners.โ ย Anurag Kumar, Associate Analyst, Vaco Binary Semantics: โApplying for this role through Saaratheeโs online portal was seamless, and the additional guidance from the recruitment executive was great support.โ ย Rahul Rajput, Content Moderator, Vaco Binary Semantics: โSaarathee transformed my life, especially when I was feeling shattered with job loss following the pandemic. Their team was supportive through the application and interview process, a true life-changer!โ ย If you want to initiate inclusion for your company, write to us at [email protected] ย Visit our website to learn more, www.saarathee.com ย #testimonial #hiringsuccess #disabilityinclusion #personswithdisabilities #Google #VacoBinary #HR #recruitment #jobs #employment #inclusion #inclusivehiring #transformingdisabilityinclusion #corporateinclusion #diversityequityinclusion #DEI Richa Bansal Sushma Kamath Saman Singh Neha Yadav Sandeep Bidani Ph.D Shruti Pushkarna Yamini P Kapoor Arjun Vishwanathan Nitesh Kumar Anureet Kochhar Sheetal Bajaj

If you're looking to increase diversity in your tech organisation: ๐ Look beyond family friendly policies, and stop making gendered assumptions about priorities of any candidate in front of you ๐ Take the desirable skills off your job adverts ๐ Think about different ways of life, and beyond the optics ๐ Take it seriously, and get everyone involved Not all women want or plan to have children, so they won't all care about your enhanced maternity leave. Because it's definitely enhanced, right? People who are underrepresented in tech are less likely to apply for your job advert if they don't hit almost 100% of the qualities you're asking for. And you don't actually need them all. Especially not the Computer Science degree. Diversity isn't just about demographics, it's also about attitudes and ways of thinking. That's what will make the magic happen in your team. If you set up a WiT group and it's a room full of women talking about the problems that face them, you're not doing it right. Get allies involved, and empower the group to create some tangible results. ๐ฅ If you actually want to improve the diversity of your team, do it. ๐ย Message me on LinkedIn โ๏ธ Email meย [email protected] ๐ Ring the bell on my profile to follow for updates ๐ป Visit acthr.co.uk #diversityequityandinclusion #diversityintech #peopleandculture
