Online or Temporary Partial Discharge Monitoring ➡️A variety of stress and aging factors result in partial discharge (PD) activity in electrical equipment during its service life, which can cause defects and eventual dielectric failure in the equipment’s insulation. ➡️On-line partial discharge (PD) monitoring provides you with continuous insulation condition status while electrical equipment is in operation and under the influence of deteriorating forces. ➡️Temporary PD monitoring systems are used to periodically assess or monitor PD activity in single assets over shorter periods of time, whereas permanent PD monitoring systems assess PD activity over the entire service life of single or multiple assets. Based on the collected data, you are able to decide if and when it is necessary to schedule downtime and perform maintenance. ➡️These monitoring systems conduct sensitive PD measurements to identify potential defects before failure occurs. Noise suppression and PD source separation algorithms are used to reliably identify harmful PD activity. Warnings and alarms are triggered when user-defined threshold levels are exceeded. Certainly some truth bombs in there Ryan. Social Housing providers are racing towards the migration of having all appropriate installations with a 5 year EICR. They are investing immense amounts of money on the process of having all properties on 5 year reports ahead of the perception that it will become a requirement aligning it with the private sector, these funds could be better invested in raising the standard of social housing. "Competent" electricians have been inspecting the condition of electrical inspections for years certainly since 2018 and writing re-test in 5 years time on the EICR Why? They have the competence to determine the frequency of inspection based on what they find during the inspection. Perhaps the question should be directed to them why does this installation need to be inspected at that prescribed frequency? just a thought. Thank you sir always good to start a discussion.

As promised during my talk last week. This is a run through some of the topics we walked through. My door is always open for assistance and technical guidance (FREE OF CHARGE) for ANY housing provider who needs clear support when being told they’re non compliant and need to refer to the Regulator due to electrical issues. I’m totally fed up of a certain few driving this sector down for personal gain. Let’s do something about it. ❤️
