Over this past summer, I had the opportunity to intern as a Consultant in Credera’s Technology Solutions practice. Part of why I chose to intern at Credera was because they promise to give interns the full time consultant experience–and that they did. I was placed on a real client project for a major airline where I got to wear many hats. Sometimes I was a cloud developer discussing technical limitations in architectural design meetings, other times I was gathering information about a vendor for an upcoming project.
My proudest moments come from owning proof-of-concept work from start to finish as part of a large data migration my client was ramping up. It was a significant undertaking, especially considering that 1) neither me or my direct team had prior experience working with AWS Glue (the center of our tech stack) and 2) this piece of the data migration was to be rapidly adopted into the Development and eventually Production environments in the coming iterations.
Regardless of the challenges, my experience on this task was very rewarding. While conducting the proof of concept, I discovered (and addressed) additional scope, collaborated with different development teams in my client’s company, and scripted transformations needed to correctly output the data in its new location.
First, I want to thank God for the great experience I had at Credera.
Secondly, there is no way for me to thank every "Crederian" that advised and supported me during this summer, however I would like to give a special thanks to:
▶ Jonathan Madden, Graeme Scruggs, and Johna Rutz for helping me to view and conduct my work from both a technical and business perspective.
▶ Caroline Hao for being a great advisor and pushing me to step out of my comfort zone.
▶ Phil Shon for advising me to show “I give a crap”. It sounds simple, but “giving a crap” about your client and their business is essential to being a great consultant. I am grateful to have learned this early on.
▶ My fellow interns (pictured below) for being your awesome selves. Without a doubt, DALLAS *cough* has the best Credera interns…not that there was ever a real competition between the locations 🤭
