It is an interesting time to be alive, despite the challenges that we have faced as a country. The catastrophic floods have caused us untold pain, and we have lost loved ones. Yet, despite all this, we should be grateful for the gift of life. We remember those we lost and hold their memories dear to our hearts. The national tree-planting day was a testament to our resilience as a nation. Each tree that was planted represents a deeper meaning. Trees provide a sense of community, bringing people together in a unique and special way. We should continue to plant trees and care for them, as they symbolize our hope for a better tomorrow. Trees represent growth, and they remind us of the resilience that we possess as a nation. Western science echoes this, confirming that mature #trees absorb up to 35% of rainwater. Decolonizing Wildfire Management 🤔 Contrary to its negative stigma, forest fires in the right proportion could help clear litter from the forest floor, recycle nutrients into the soil, open up gaps in tree stands to promote new growth, and kill invasive species and forest pests. In a healthy amount, the heat from forest fires is even needed by some trees for regeneration. For millennia, Indigenous communities have understood the tricky relationship between fire and forests. They’ve practiced numbers of delicate cultural burns based on their local wisdom to fulfil their needs. The changes to the #climate , driven largely by the demands of urbanization, are forcing Indigenous people to adapt to new times, and especially much more uncontrollable and unpredictable wildfires. Thus, it is about time to include indigenous knowledge and communities in the discussion on forest fire management, as they are often the most vulnerable and most impacted. In decades past, much of the fire-affected land would’ve naturally regenerated lost forests on its own. But because human-caused climate change has made fires burn hotter and longer, affected areas are so severely damaged that they struggle to heal naturally. Getting trees to regrow requires humanity’s intervention and investment. It's why we need bold leaders to step out from the crowd and help set a path toward restoration. Dan Lambe said it best in Forbes Nonprofit Council, "Corporations have the influence and resources to enact lasting, positive change. The general population's reaction to the Just Stop Oil protest at Stonehenge is interesting. You might not agree with their shock tactics or methods but the hysteria of the response is laughable really. It's cornflour based and will wash away in the rain. If you give such a proverbial about Stonehenge, why don't you rebuild it to restore the structure to its original intention rather than letting it continue to ebb away as a ruin? Either way, enjoy Stonehenge whilst leisure, recreation, and tourism are still a 'thing'...because climate catastrophe, ecological collapse, and humanity's self-destructive tendencies might consign such luxuries to the past in the not-so-distant future. #JustStopOil #Stonehenge #Perspective

Successful climate/environmental change adaptation is a social and justice issue also now confirmed by rhesus macaques (Following environmental disasters scientists expected more competition, but instead of becoming more competitive, individuals widened their social network and became less aggressive).
